Morning Prayer For Your Fiancé

Just as we always pray for our family and friends because we love them, we should also pray in the morning for our fiancé if we have one. We pray for them every day, not because praying every day means that God will hear our prayers, but because we seek their well-being every day. There is no one else we can depend on regarding their well-being aside from God.

Heavenly Father, I thank You because just as You are always watching over me, You are the One who also watches over my fiance. With that, I have peace in the confidence that he is always in good hands. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What is a simple prayer to say in the morning?

A simple prayer to say in the morning is driven by the word “simple.” When we say simple, it means the prayer is not necessarily long and instead goes directly to the point. Basically, if there are things you want to tell God, you can tell Him about it directly without making it like a speech. In Matthew 6:7 (But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.), when Jesus was teaching His disciples how to pray, he taught them not to heap up empty phrases with the thought that God would hear them even more.

In Mark 1:35 (And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.), Jesus wakes up early in the morning to go to a quiet place to pray and spend alone time with God. Likewise, when we pray to God, it is not some religious activity or ritual that we have to make long or ritualistic. Our prayers towards God are our conversations with our Heavenly Father, where we pour out our hearts to Him. There might be cases where our prayers are long, but if they are long, it’s because the things we want to talk about with God are great in number or importance. It is not because we think that long prayers mean they have a greater chance of being heard by God. In other words, a simple short prayer in the morning for your fiance would already suffice.

In Hebrews 4:15-16, it is written that we have access to God’s throne of grace in Christ, our Great High Priest. In Christ, our prayers are already heard. 

How do I pray for my fiancé in the morning?

There are different kinds of prayers that you can say in the morning for your fiance. The first one is praying for their well-being. In Philippians 4:6-7, it is written that if we have prayer requests, we must present them to God, who then brings peace to our hearts. Also, in 1 Peter 5:6-7, it is written that whatever anxieties or cares we have, we are to cast them to God. How you pray this is as simple as knowing what your concerns are regarding your fiance— whether it is their safety, need for provision for something, comfort for a particular hurt—and then lifting them to God, as shown in the example below:

Father in heaven, I pray that You will keep my fiance safe as they go to work today. I pray for strength and grace as they work mainly in those aspects they find challenging. Provide for their daily needs. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Another kind of prayer that you can say to God is a prayer of thanksgiving. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, we are commanded to thank God in all circumstances. Though both of you are not yet married, having a fiance is already something for which you can thank God. You can also thank God for those things or qualities about your fiance for which you are grateful. You do this by first thinking about the qualities of your fiance that you are blessed with and that you want to thank God for. Below is an example of a thanksgiving prayer to God for your fiance:

Heavenly Father, I thank You because it is only through Your grace and mercy that I have a fiance. It is You who have blessed me with such a wonderful person. I thank You for answering my prayer and giving me a fiance who loves You with all their heart, soul, and strength and who motivates me to pursue Christ every day. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

As you thank God for your fiance, just like with any good things God gives us, remember to hold them with an open palm rather than a closed fist. In other words, be careful not to make an idol of your fiance, and always guard your heart.

The third prayer is one we can call a free conversational prayer. It basically means that you can talk to God about whatever you want with Him regarding your fiance. Remember that prayer is just a means of conversing with God. It is a relationship-building tool. Therefore, if there is anything you want to pour your heart out to God about, you may do so.

Father in heaven, you know about my worries for my fiance. I pray that You will work in their hearts regarding what I mentioned. I pray that they will continue to grow in sanctification and always choose to glorify You. Thank You because they have the Holy Spirit, who shall convict them. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

While this is another topic, if your fiance is not yet a Christian, it is imperative to know that the Bible commands us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. If they are not Christians, the most important thing you can pray for is their salvation. Pray that the Holy Spirit will open their spiritual eyes and soften their heart. Of course, you should also preach the Gospel to them.
