Morning Prayer for Gratitude to God

As new creations in Christ Jesus, we can live every day with an overflowing heart of gratitude (Morning Prayer for Gratitude) to God because of the things He has done for us through Jesus Christ. We no longer live according to our old and sinful nature, but through the Holy Spirit, we can live above sin and the flesh and live in abundance through Jesus (see John 10:10 – The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. and Galatians 5:16-18). Romans 8:14-15 says, “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”

You are here because you are thankful to God and want to express that through a morning prayer of gratitude. You can say a morning prayer of gratitude to God in this manner:

Heavenly Father, I praise You and glorify You on this wonderful morning You have made. My heart is filled with gratitude as I meditate on all the good things You have done in my life. You have never failed me and are there for me in all seasons of life. I am blessed to have known You in Christ Jesus, and I live to worship You alone, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

You can also look through the Scriptures and say Your thanksgiving praises to God in the morning when you wake up. It is powerful to pray and declare the Scriptures because those are God’s very words, and we know that God is always faithful to fulfilling His Word. So, as you read God’s Word in the morning, partner with the Holy Spirit, who guides every believer into truth, then pray according to the will of the Father. 

For instance, if you want to thank God for the fruit of the Holy Spirit, it says in Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” You can say a morning prayer of gratitude to God in this manner:

Thank You, Father, for this Spirit-filled morning. You have blessed me with the Holy Spirit, who produces love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance in my life. May You be glorified in my life as I continue to yield to the Holy Spirit each day, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Know that you can also pray for others in the morning and offer your gratitude to God for their lives. Just allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in your morning prayers and declare what He wants You to speak and declare.

How do I show God I am grateful for Him?

Nothing can make each morning more powerful or positive than waking up with a grateful heart. As you fill your mind with good things for which you are thankful to God, the rest of the day will follow with positivity and light. Darkness and negativity will have no place in your life, for your eyes are set on Him who gives you peace. 

Aside from saying a morning prayer of gratitude to God, He knows that you want to express how grateful you are to Him through your actions. There are many ways to show God you are truly grateful and know that such thoughts in your heart deeply move Him. 

For instance, you can live a surrendered life to the Lord and serve Him according to His instructions. When a believer encounters the love of God, that person begins to change by setting their affections and attention on heavenly things. A changed life is the fruit of our relationship with Him, and our lifestyle can show that we are truly grateful to God for His love, particularly when we serve and love others the same way.

As you overflow with gratitude each day and partner with the Holy Spirit in all things that you do, God is pleased and glorified in your life. Just know that there is nothing more you can do to make God love you more or less. What Jesus Christ did on the cross finished his work, and our faith in Him is what truly counts in this new life. When we live a life of obedience to Him out of love and gratefulness, we truly become the salt and light of this world.
