Saying a morning prayer for forgiveness (Morning Prayer for Forgiveness) to God is essential in our Christian walk whenever we stumble and fall into sin. God knows that we are all a work in progress, as we are being transformed from glory to glory (see 2 Corinthians 3:18 – But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.).
Whatever the intent of your heart as you pray for forgiveness every day, know that the Father does not keep records of your confessed sins and the things He has already forgiven. However, if you feel convicted to ask for forgiveness for unconfessed sins, you may do so according to the Spirit.

Daily Morning Prayer for Forgiveness
You can pray in this manner:
Heavenly Father, I praise and glorify You today. Thank You for waking me up and giving me another chance to fulfill my calling on Earth. I ask that You forgive me of my sins (you can be specific), as the Holy Spirit convicted me. Forgive me of my wrongdoings and strengthen me to be more Christlike each day, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

How do you pray when you’ve messed up?
God isn’t surprised when we mess up. He knows that we are frail and weak (Psalm 103:14 – For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.), prone to temptation, and vulnerable to attacks from the enemy. That is why He gave us His Word. Jesus Christ said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

So, when you’ve messed up, come before the Lord and be honest about your mistakes. Admit and acknowledge that you were wrong and are willing to be disciplined and guided by the Holy Spirit. As 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Come to God as you are, be humble, and open up your heart. You can say, “Father, I have done a terrible thing. Forgive me. I am willing to be changed by You.”
Consider the life of Samson, who made mistakes in his calling by choosing a woman over God’s anointing. He knew that he messed up, so in his last moments, to defeat their enemies, the Philistines, he prayed to the Lord:
“O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes” (Judges 16:28).
God forgave Samson, and he received supernatural strength from God and died victoriously.
Messing up, falling, and stumbling are all part of human nature, and God understands this. That is why He sent us help, the Holy Spirit, and the Word of God, so that we may avoid unnecessary detours, derailments, and the enemy’s attempts at sabotage. Sin always has consequences, so we should not take God’s kindness lightly, even though He is faithful and just to forgive.
You must walk in discipline, always yielding to the Holy Spirit so that the enemy will flee far away from you.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”– James 4:7

Daily Morning Prayer for Forgiveness
Should I ask for forgiveness from God every day?
Saying a daily morning prayer for forgiveness to God helps to unload any bitterness that’s been kept in the heart and keeps one humble before the Lord.
That being said, we must remember that praying to God means communicating with Him intentionally, as one speaks with a dear friend. While there is nothing wrong with praying for forgiveness every day from God, it should not come out as repetitive or as words said in vain. How would you feel if your best friend came to see you every day to ask for your forgiveness without really knowing what they were sorry for? In the same way, God wants us to be more intentional in our relationship with Him. If there is nothing to be sorry for, you can talk about other things in your prayers, such as saying a gratitude prayer (Morning Prayer for Gratitude to God).
While it seems humble to pray to God like a sinner who sins every day, God wants to hear you for who you truly are in your conversations with Him.
Consider King David, for instance, who wrote prayers from his heart in the book of Psalms. There were times that he prayed for forgiveness when he sinned against God, and sometimes He praised and magnified God in his life’s situations. David wasn’t stuck on his sins, nor did he keep offering prayers asking God for forgiveness without being intentional about it.
After all, you are a new creation in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Though you stumble and fall from time to time, God calls you by name and not by your sin.
So, as you pray, keep in mind that God wants to hear you say, “Thank You, God,” and “I love You, Lord” more than your “Sorry,” unless you have really done something to break His heart.
May you have a wonderful relationship with God, and may you have a blessed journey in Christ Jesus.
