Morning Prayer For God’s Grace

Just as we need oxygen to physically live and breathe, we need God’s grace in order to continually walk through our journey in life. In Christ, God provides everything that we will ever need for our life’s journey: His grace upon us, even the oxygen that enables us to live and breathe. That is why it’s only fitting that whenever we wake up in the morning, we come before God and ask Him for the grace we need as we face the coming day.

Heavenly Father, I thank You because you shower me with grace and favor in line with what Christ has done for me on the cross. Remind me to always face the day with a prayer asking You for the help, strength, and grace that I need. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What’s my daily prayer for grace today?

Your daily prayer for grace for the day is a prayer concerning things you need God’s grace with during that day. To know what to say, ask yourself, “What are the things or matters I have today for which I need God’s grace?”

Every person will have different things to pray for and different needs for His grace. If you are a student, it could be a prayer for grace to understand what you have been studying. You can also pray for the grace to remember what you have studied and excel on your upcoming exam.

Father in heaven, I pray for the grace I need as I go to school today. Give me understanding so that I may comprehend the lessons and topics my teachers teach me, especially the important ones. Give me the grace and wisdom I need as I take my exam later today. Help me excel in the exam I am about to take. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

For a working professional, it could be asking for the grace to work with excellence in the workplace. A professional might also be encountering challenges in their line of work and may need grace from God for the wisdom to solve whatever challenges or problems they’re having.

Heavenly Father, I depend on You and Your grace as I go to work today. Give me the grace I need to work excellently and competently and be a blessing to the company I work for. Help me and give me the wisdom I need to solve whatever problems I may face today and any existing problems we already have. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Morning prayer for God’s Grace

We can present our concerns and cares to God, as written in Philippians 4:6-7 and ask Him for the grace we need.

The prayers you say each day for God’s grace are not limited to praying for matters regarding our earthly life. We should also pray for God’s grace regarding matters of our spiritual life. For example, if you’re struggling to preach the Gospel to a friend or minister to someone, you should pray and ask God for the grace you need as you minister on that specific day.

Heavenly Father, I am meeting an unbelieving friend at a coffee shop later. I pray for the grace I need as I preach the Gospel to them. Give me the words to speak and the wisdom to explain why Christ is the One we all need. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

A daily prayer for God’s grace also applies to our pursuit of holiness. In 1 Peter 1:15-16, it is written that we must be holy, for God is holy. Pursuing holiness is always challenging. That is why we should always pray to God for the grace we need to live a pure and holy life. In Titus 2:11-12, it is written that the grace of God has appeared not just to bring us salvation but to train us to renounce evil and help us live godly, upright, and self-controlled lives.

Father in heaven, I thank You because the grace You have shown us not only saves us from sin but also enables us to say no to sin and helps us live godly, upright, and self-controlled lives. As I face another day today, remind me that I have the grace in Christ to live a godly life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Morning prayer for God’s Grace

As Christians, we are in pursuit of being Christlike every day. Therefore, it is something that we should pray for daily. In Ephesians 4:15 (But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:), it is written that we must grow up into Christ, who is our head. Growing up into Christ means working to be like Christ. We can only grow toward the image and likeness of Christ daily, and we can only do so through God’s grace and work in us. With that, you can pray that as you face another day, you will grow more in the likeness of Christ. Pray that you will not respond in the flesh but in Christlikeness whenever you are tested.

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: Ephesians 4:15

Morning prayer for God’s Grace

Father in heaven, I pray that I will grow in Christlikeness every day, even if it is just in incremental steps. Whatever situations I face today, help me respond not in the flesh but in the Spirit, and may I exhibit a Christlike character. Help me bear the fruit of the Spirit and show patience and understanding towards my challenging colleague. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Your daily prayer for grace can also involve daily matters and those that have existed for a while. For example, let’s say that you had a conflict with a friend, and your relationship seemed to be damaged, wherein both of you have hurt each other and have been experiencing pain and grief for a few days. You can pray to God for the grace to pull through and salvage the relationship, despite the emotions that you’re feeling.

Father in heaven, I have many emotions related to what happened with my friend. I am still bothered by the pain and regret. As I go through this, give me the grace to pull through and fix my eyes on Christ. Thank You because despite these things, I can still live victoriously today through Christ, who strengthens me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

How do I pray for the grace of God in the morning?

How we pray for the grace of God can be drawn from 1 Peter 5:6-7 and Hebrews 4:16. In Peter 5:6-7, it is written that we must humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God and cast to Him all the anxieties or cares we have, as God cares for us. Whatever we are struggling with in our lives, we cannot tackle them head-on or alone. We should humble ourselves and cast them to God. As we cast them to God, we rely and depend on God, as well as the grace that He gives.

The Bible also says in Hebrews 4:16 that in Christ, we can draw near with confidence before God’s throne of grace and ask Him for grace and mercy in times of need.

In other words, we pray for God’s grace by asking Him for grace regarding whatever matter it is for which we need that grace. 1 Peter 5:6-7 tells us to humble ourselves and cast our cares to God, who cares for us. Hebrews 4:16 also tells us to draw near God’s throne of grace and ask Him for grace and mercy in times of need. Think of what you need God’s grace for and ask God for it.

Below is an example of a morning prayer for God’s grace:

Heavenly Father, I am struggling to forgive my colleague who has done me wrong. As I face him today, I am tempted to retaliate. I pray for the grace to forgive, not to retaliate, but to extend grace and mercy toward Him. On my own, it is hard, but Your grace enables me to do so. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

You can also refer to the sample prayers listed in the section above.

The fundamental principle to remember is that we must show humility before God. We should humble ourselves and acknowledge that we depend on God and His grace. In James 4:6, it is written that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. The proud never acknowledge that they need help from God. The Bible also says in John 1:16-17 that we receive grace upon grace in Christ. In Christ, there is no shortage of the grace that we need, no matter what we face.
