Morning Prayer for Family

Family is one of God’s greatest blessings in a person’s life. It is where you were nursed as a baby, nurtured as a child, taught and molded with moral values, and where you give and receive love throughout your life. Whether they are your biological family, family in Christ, or an institution, one way to thank God for your family is by saying a morning prayer for them.

You can say a morning prayer for your family in this manner:

Heavenly Father, thank You for this wonderful day. As I think about my family, I praise and glorify Your name for blessing me with love through them. I pray that you will always protect them and keep them safe from dangers and the arrows of the enemy upon their lives, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

God made us to have a family where we belong. When Jesus Christ came to earth, He called God His Father, and God called Jesus His Son (see Matthew 3:17 – And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. and John 5:18 – Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.). The rest of us who believe in the Son are also called the children of God (see John 1:12 – ( But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: and 1 John 3:1).

And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Morning Prayer for Family

God wants all families to be blessed and prosperous in Christ Jesus. However, because of sin and the works of the devil, we see many families that are ruined and torn apart. John 10:10 says, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.”

That is why your prayers for your family are crucial and important, not just in the morning but whenever the Holy Spirit prompts you to pray. You are a great blessing to your family.

How do I thank God for my family?

One way to show your gratitude (Morning Prayer for Gratitude to God) to God for your family is by saying a morning prayer for them, which you may have already been doing.

Aside from praying, we can show our gratitude to God for our families by obeying His commands in the Word. We know that not everything in our family will go smoothly and perfectly. There are good days, bad days, horrible days, flaws, and imperfections. The Bible says that we are to love one another as Jesus Christ has loved us (see John 13:34). Colossians 3:13 says, “Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”

“Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”

When we want to show our gratitude and love to the Lord, it can be demonstrated in our love and obedience for His Word because His Word is His perfect will.

What is a good Bible verse for a family?

As you partner with the Holy Spirit in praying for your family, there are instances where He will put specific Bible verses in your mind for you to pray. Sometimes, it will be about a specific matter that a family member may be going through, on behalf of which you want to intercede.

The Bible contains many wonderful Scriptures about God’s promises that can encourage, give hope, empower and come to pass for your family. As the Holy Spirit leads you in your Bible reading time, allow Him to highlight specific Bible verses that you can pray and declare for your family in the morning. For instance, Joshua 24:15 is a famous Bible verse for Christian families that says, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” If your family is not yet a believer of the Lord Jesus Christ, Acts 16:31 makes for a good Bible verse declaration, “…Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

What matters is that you always partner with the Holy Spirit in your morning prayer for your family. Let Him speak to you, revealing specific things, people, events, and Bible verses you can pray and declare for your family.

He is our perfect guide when it comes to prayer (see Romans 8:26).

May God bless you and protect your family, in Christ Jesus’ name.
