Morning Prayer for Gratitude for Restoration

Whether you are referring to the restoration of a family relationship, friendship, material wealth, health–physical or spiritual—it is something for which you can be grateful to God (Morning Prayer for Gratitude to God) every morning. Waking up with the thought that God has restored something precious to you can cause you to overflow with thanksgiving and praise unto Him for His goodness and faithfulness in your life.

In the Bible, one of the most powerful stories of God’s restoration comes from the story of Job. We can read from his book how the enemy came to steal, kill and destroy (see John 10:10 about the thief’s purpose) everything he valued in his life yet his faith remained strong in the Lord. In the end, God restored to him twice as much because he did not give up the good fight of faith. 

“And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before” – Job 42:10

It is always God’s will to restore a person, no matter how broken or damaged one’s life has become. As long as we run to Him, trust in Him, and surrender our lives to Him, we can expect His mighty restoration in all aspects of our lives. 

How do I maintain God’s restoration in my life?

Saying a morning prayer for gratitude for restoration when you wake up is one way to give the glory back to God for all He has done. Communing with Him and praying unto Him with all thanksgiving makes our Heavenly Father’s heart swell with joy, just like any parent would feel towards a child with a heart of gratitude.

When God restores us, we know that we must take responsibility and action in order to maintain it, such as when he restores our health. Or if God restored your wealth and redeemed you from debts, you must stay debt-free and say no to the things that caused you to lose your wealth so you don’t get in trouble again.

In our faith walk with God, we must be in partnership with His Spirit, walking in obedience and full trust to walk in His promises. It doesn’t work for a believer to believe God for healing and then be irresponsible with their health. Instead, God wants us to do our part while He does His. It is a beautiful partnership, which is why our relationship with Him and our Christian walk can never be boring. There’s so much He wants to accomplish both in us and through us.

What do Bible verses say about God’s restoration?

As mentioned earlier, restoration is God’s will. He wants us to live in abundance through Christ Jesus (see John 10:10). Restoration is His promise, which we can all be grateful for each day, even if we are still hoping for restoration in our lives. 

Many Scriptures in the Bible speak about God’s promise of restoration in our lives. Here are some Bible verses to consider:

• Psalm 51:12 – Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

When we lose the joy of our salvation, God promises to restore us if we seek Him. David prayed for an even greater joy in God’s spiritual promises in this verse.

• Job 42:10 – And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

As mentioned earlier, God can restore our fortunes if we don’t give up faith and hope in Him, just like Job.

• James 5:16 – Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

God promises restoration of our health. He gave us instructions on how to be restored in our health, such as when we confess our sins to our fellow brethren.

1. Isaiah 40:31 – But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

God promises to restore our strength—mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually—as we wait in hope for the Lord.

• 2 Corinthians 5:18 – And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

God promises to restore people’s relationship with Him as they come to Jesus Christ. We are also called to reconcile others back to God by not looking at them through their old sinful nature but as a new creation in Christ.

• Romans 8:28 – And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

God promises that all things will work out for our benefit, no matter the setbacks and failures we have experienced and will experience.

The Bible has many more things to say about God’s power of restoration. As you partner with the Holy Spirit in reading and studying the Scriptures in your morning prayer with God, you will surely overflow with gratitude as you witness His people experiencing His faithfulness and goodness in restoring them.
