Scriptural Prayers for Anxiety in the Morning

Many things in this world can make people anxious from the moment they wake up, and believers are not exempt from such experiences. Anxiety, fears, worries, and doubts are not from God, but the enemy, as he aims to steal our peace, kill our joy, and destroy our faith (see John 10:10 – The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.). Whenever we feel anxious upon waking, it reveals an area in our life that needs to be surrendered to the Lord. We are blessed because the Holy Spirit never leaves us in our weaknesses and always illuminates the Word of God in our hearts, which gives light to our path.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Scriptural Prayers for Anxiety in the Morning

Praying the Scripture is a powerful antidote against anxiety. For instance, if you are anxious about your family’s financial status, Hebrews 13:5 (Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.) says that God will never leave you nor forsake you. Jesus also said in Matthew 6:26 that the sparrows don’t work for food, yet the Heavenly Father feeds them and that you are more valuable than the sparrows.

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Scriptural Prayers for Anxiety in the Morning

You can pray the Scriptures in this manner:

Heavenly Father, thank You for eliminating my anxiety about money. You will never leave nor forsake my family. We are more valuable than the sparrows whom You feed. We will trust in Your provisions and faithfulness alone, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for eliminating my anxiety about money. You will never leave nor forsake my family. We are more valuable than the sparrows whom You feed. We will trust in Your provisions and faithfulness alone, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Scriptural Prayers for Anxiety in the Morning

When we’re anxious, we cannot think clearly and discern the will of God, for our spiritual ears are tuned into the wrong voice. That is why you must run to God’s Word whenever you are feeling anxious, fearful, or doubtful because it is powerful to expose the enemy’s lies. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

Scriptural Prayers for Anxiety in the Morning

What Scriptures can I pray against anxiety?

The goal of the enemy through giving us anxiety is to cloud the mind with thoughts that are not from God as soon as we wake up. He lies to keep you confused, fearful of the future, doubtful of God’s plans for your life, or to ruin your day. These thoughts result in negative emotions that can affect your mental, spiritual and emotional state and even your physical health. You certainly don’t want to give such access to the thief who may ransack your life. After all, you are already victorious through Christ Jesus and have a mighty weapon against the defeated foe—the Word of God.

Here are some Scriptures against anxiety that you can pray for in the morning:

  1. Isaiah 40:31

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

  1. Jeremiah 17:7-8

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

  1. 6. Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

  1. Matthew 11:28-30

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

How do I overcome anxiety?

As soon as you open your eyes, it can be frustrating and crippling when the daily anxiety sets in. It’s like a heavy cloud on your head the moment you awake. This must not be so for a child of God. Trust that you have the authority against anxiety because it is your right to live with a peaceful mind through Christ Jesus. You must rebuke it as you get up, run to God and His Word, and begin to declare the Scripture.

Overcoming anxiety is not an overnight event in your life. After all, the enemy is still there, trying its best to keep God’s children away from the realm of faith. Overcoming your anxiety takes discipline, consistency, and determination to spend more time with God’s Word and in His presence and less time with the world.

The more you spend time with God and remain in His Word, as soon as you get up from bed, filling your mind with His promises and heavenly things, as well as getting involved in godly fellowship within your church… this all can keep your mind away from the lies of the devil that make you anxious. Isaiah 26:3 says, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. By keeping your mind on Christ, you attain peace of mind, and anxiety has no place in your life. Jesus promised, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27).

May the Lord bless your mind with peace and answer your prayers according to His will and purpose in Christ. Know that whatever matters to you matters to the Father. Don’t worry, and never let anxiety get to your head. You are God’s precious child, more valuable than the sparrows.
