Heavenly Father, thank You for blessing me with a new morning and a new week to start fresh. Your mercy is always new each time I awake, which keeps me hopeful throughout the week. I offer this new week unto You, and may Your name be glorified in all things I do, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

The concept of a new day, week, month, and year is about more than starting things right and getting better than yesterday.

As God blesses you with a fresh start, you can look forward to the new things that Your Heavenly Father has prepared for you and the things He will do in you and through you so that you can walk according to His will.

“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert” – Isaiah 43:19

Morning Prayer for the New Week

What can I pray for this week?

Praying to God every morning is a great way to start each new week. As you think about the things that must be done, improved, fulfilled, and accomplished for the week, whether as a student, parent, professional worker, church worker, etc., partner with the Holy Spirit in your prayer time so that you can say effective and powerful prayers for the new week.

Here are some things you can pray for the week ahead:

  • Pray to God for strength (Isaiah 40:31)
  • Pray to God for protection (Psalms 91)
  • Pray to God for provision (Philippians 4:6)
  • Pray for others (James 5:16)
  • Pray to God for good health (3 John 1:2)
  • Pray to God for His presence (Psalm 16:11)
  • Pray to God for divine connections (1 Corinthians 15:33)
  • Pray to God for divine favor (Psalm 90:17)

The list goes on as you partner with the Holy Spirit. As you pray, He will even show you specific things for which God wants you to pray. He may impress a particular Scripture in your mind that you must declare for the new week; it could also be about a specific person, place, or event that you must intercede.

It is never boring to partner with the Holy Spirit in prayer. He is our perfect assistant in our weakness, particularly when we don’t know what to pray for.

“Likewise, the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” – Romans 8:26

How do you thank God for the new week?

One way to make a powerful start to the “new week, aside from praying, is with a heart of gratitude. When you live a lifestyle of gratitude, you can clearly see God’s beauty unfolding through every person and every circumstance,” no matter the rough and difficult roads ahead (see 1 Thessalonians 5:18).

You can thank God for many things in the new week. You can say a morning prayer of gratitude for all that He has done and express your gratitude to those around you. (Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21) says that our words are powerful. Imagine saying “thank you” to someone having a bad day. That will definitely change the atmosphere. When you express your gratitude to those you love, it’s one way to show how much you are grateful to God for all that He has done in your life. It simply overflows to others people.
