Do you remember hateful memories of the past the moment you wake up? Do you find it hard to approach God in the morning because your mind is filled with anger and hatred? The moment you decided to follow Jesus, you declared war against Satan and the kingdom of darkness. The enemy will use all its forces to make a Christian stumble in their walk of faith, and that includes using people to hurt you.
You probably already know that anger and hatred are not fruit of the Holy Spirit, yet somehow you got entangled with it. Don’t condemn yourself for this. Know that you are not alone in this struggle, for there are many other believers going through the same struggle as you. In order for you to break through in your morning prayer with God, these solutions will help you:
- Soak yourself in the Word of God daily.
Anger and hatred are serious issues of the heart, for they don’t heal overnight, especially when the enemy reminds you of painful memories. The only solution is soaking yourself in God’s Word every day. By meditating on God’s Word daily, it helps to transform the way you think, so when the enemy tries to penetrate your mind, the Holy Spirit will remind you of God’s Word.
- Ask God to heal the wounds of your heart.
When you pray to God, be honest and tell Him how you truly feel. He won’t reject you if you humble yourself before Him and open your heart to Him. Ask God to help heal the wounds of your heart, for you can’t do it alone.
- When you are tempted to hold on to anger and hatred, meditate on Matthew 6:15. “But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Anger and hatred come from unforgiveness. Know that when you hesitate to forgive, Your Heavenly Father also won’t forgive you your sins.
- Just keep on declaring your forgiveness toward the person who has hurt you each time anger rises within you. I know it may take some time, but that is the reason why Jesus said we are to forgive seventy times seven. Keep on forgiving. It helps to let go of the pain.
You will surely get over this, and complete healing is already at work in your soul. God’s grace is always sufficient for you, and His power is working best in your weaknesses.
