Morning Prayer for Gratitude During Difficult Times

Gratitude is a sign of a healthy soul. When you are grateful for even the smallest things as you wake up in the morning, it means you are spiritually sensitive toward heavenly activities. After all, only a thankful heart can see through what God is doing during difficult times. Many people find it challenging to be in a position of gratitude when things are not going as they desire and when situations are against their favor. But as you are here searching for a morning prayer of gratitude during a difficult time, know that such an effort pleases the Lord, and it is the Holy Spirit stirring in you a grateful heart even during these difficult times of your life.

Here is a morning prayer for gratitude as you are facing difficulties and challenges in your life:

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day. You have given me another chance to spend life with my loved ones and be a better person than I was yesterday. Even as I am facing many difficulties at these times, I know that You are never leaving me or forsaking me. You are my help in times of trouble, and I will continue to fix my eyes on You, the One Who is faithful in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Gratitude stirs up faith. Faith is believing in the promises of God and being expectant that they will come to pass, for He is faithful. In the Gospel, when Lazarus died, and everyone was weeping, Jesus prayed to the Father in this way: “Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always…” (John 11:41-42). Afterward, He raised Lazarus back to life, and everyone was amazed.

Thankfulness that begins in the morning can bring dead things in our lives back to life. When you thank a negative person by calling out his or her good qualities, you bring life back to that person. When you thank God even in difficult times as soon as you wake up, you call forth your blessing, and troubles become like a tiny insect as your eyes are fixed on God’s promises and faithfulness.

When times are tough and chaotic, the biggest challenge, as mentioned earlier, is remaining thankful to God and even to the people around you when all else seems to be failing and falling apart. Why is this so? Problems seem to roar the loudest when you are having difficulties, and all you can see is a huge mountain of troubles before you when they arise. What the mind beholds manifests through your words and actions. And the more you focus on the trouble, the more you lose sight of what God is doing and, thus, neglect to stay thankful.

So, for you to be thankful in times of trouble, you must not focus on the problem when it comes but on God’s Word and His promises as soon as you wake up every morning. God’s Word imparts faith. And when you have faith, your spiritual eyes can see and discern what God is doing, even when your situation seems to be going in the opposite direction.

The more time you spend with God – in His presence, in His Word, and having fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ – the less you focus on the negativity that’s been happening around you. And when you focus less on negativity, you become more grateful for even the smallest things.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says that gratitude is God’s will. When we are thankful in all situations, we are doing God’s will, for our hearts are aligned to His Word. During difficult times, you must guard your heart against becoming negative and ungrateful, as this kind of attitude will only worsen the situation rather than lighten things up, not just for you but for everyone around you.

It is a great blessing to have God close by you, never leaving you or forsaking you at any time. He is just a prayer away. Praying to God during difficult times is just like crying out for help from your closest friend. You can tell God, “Help me, Lord, I am having difficulty with my situation,” or “Lord, I am troubled. Show me Your will and Your ways.”

Sometimes when you’re lost for words, praying the Scriptures is the best prayer you can pray to God in difficult times as soon as you get up in the morning. Reading God’s Word as soon as you wake up helps renew and align your thoughts to God’s ways and principles. It also builds up your faith as you meditate on God’s promises for you rather than on your current struggles.

Know that during difficult times, the Holy Spirit is always there to help you and guide you to the way of gratitude. The fact that you are reading this means that the Holy Spirit is working and helping you get through. Don’t worry or fear. Stay thankful and hopeful in Christ Jesus by keeping your faith in God’s Word and promises.
