Morning Prayer for Gratitude During Fasting

Fasting is an important part of being a follower of Jesus Christ. It is a requirement in our faith walk; when our spirit becomes weak, we must fast from the things that keep our flesh strong – food, social media, people, worldly activities, bitterness, offenses, and more. Then we can reconnect with God through fasting and prayer and come out stronger in the Lord.

As you are fasting and looking for a morning prayer of gratitude, may God fulfill the desires of your heart as you draw near to His presence and empower your spirit in Christ Jesus. You can say a morning prayer for gratitude during your fasting in this manner:

Heavenly Father, thank You for this fresh morning that You have blessed me with. As I am fasting and continuing with my fast, thank You for drawing near and revealing Your wonderful truths and presence to me. I am expectant of Your powerful movements in my life and to those that I am praying for, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Fasting is important and helpful in our walk with God, as it empowers our inner man when we abstain from the things that distract us, weaken our faith, and dull our spiritual senses to the voice and things of God.

You can fast as an individual or along with your brethren. What matters most is that the Holy Spirit leads you in that fasting.

Consider Jesus Christ, who fasted for forty days and nights when the Holy Spirit led Him to the wilderness (see Matthew 4:1-11). Afterward, He became very powerful and effective in the ministry and the works of the Kingdom of God.

Fasting causes you to be a powerful, effective, and impactful believer of God, just like Jesus Christ.

Why should I fast?

In the Bible, there was a boy oppressed by a demon, and Jesus’ disciples couldn’t cast the spirit out. Then they asked the Lord why, and Jesus told them that such evil spirits could only be cast out by prayer and fasting (see Matthew 17:15-21).

You must fast as a follower of Christ Jesus because fasting can make your Christian life more powerful and effective. If Jesus Christ, the Son of God, fasted according to the leading of the Holy Spirit when He was on earth, why shouldn’t we? We know that when we obey God’s command, there is protection, breakthroughs, and blessings that follow.

Fasting, aside from personal requests and empowerment, helps people in their walk with God. For instance, when you fast and pray for someone’s healing, deliverance, and salvation, God sees this act of sacrifice and acknowledges it. He’ll never fail to hear the cries and pledges of His children who are fasting out of love and service to other people.

Moreover, fasting isn’t just about abstaining from food; it also relates to the posture of our hearts before the Lord. Isaiah 58:3-7 tells us about the kind of fasting that truly pleases the Lord. When we fast with a strong desire to connect with God, our fasting results in powerful and transforming ways that can impact not just ourselves but other people too!

What prayers can I say to God during fasting?

There are many reasons why you might be thankful to God during your fasting as you look for a prayer for gratitude during fasting. Your prayers of gratitude can be a declaration of His victory over requests you have been praying for, sincere gratitude for His answered prayers in your life, and many other specific reasons.

There are many other things you can pray for when you fast. That being said, fasting becomes even more powerful when, instead of asking God for the things you don’t have, you begin to thank Him in advance because you know He will give you what you are asking for. Jesus Christ said, “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24). So, if you are in need of a breakthrough as you fast, praise God for the imminent breakthroughs in your life; thank Him for healing, salvation, and the deliverance of a loved one.
