Morning Prayer for Gratitude for Peace

Waking up with peace of mind and heart is a priceless gift from our Heavenly Father. In a world where suffering, trials, temptations, and challenges never seem to end, receiving the peace of God amidst it all is worth pursuing each day. Jesus Christ said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27 – Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.).

The peace we receive from God is unlike the peace that comes from this world–temporary and unsatisfying. Those who have received and experienced this peace, which surpasses knowledge, can make our hearts swell with gratitude each day when we wake up. You can say a morning prayer for gratitude for peace in this manner:

Heavenly Father, thank You for filling my mornings with Your peace. I have the mind of Christ, and I am filled with Your love, power, and a sound mind. No weapon of the enemy shall prosper against my family and I today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

When you have peace, no storm or trial can break you. After all, God’s peace gives you clarity and a sound mind in all things. You are able to decide clearly, hear God’s voice with clarity, and discern the guidance of the Holy Spirit because of His peace. It is important that, as believers, we prioritize seeking the peace of God over matters that can otherwise take it away from us—pride, offenses, bitterness, and all other worldly distractions. The more time you spend with God and hear His Word, the more you will have peace in all things.

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” – Isaiah 26:3

How do I receive God’s peace in the morning?

Waking up in the morning with unsettled matters from yesterday and things of the past can sometimes be used by the enemy as tools to steal our peace within. Or when you have a challenging situation that you can’t overcome, thoughts can come like a flood in the morning when you wake up and attempt to ruin your entire day.

It is important to constantly set our eyes and affections on God and upon His Word in order to have His peace each morning. Being consistent in spending time with God is a huge factor in receiving His peace in the morning. For instance, if you spend more time watching the news, politics, and other worldly affairs, these things stay and linger in your mind, which can cause negativity rather than peace. However, if you spend more time reading God’s Word and listening to preachings that empower your identity, destiny, and purpose in Christ, you will gain the peace of God.

As mentioned earlier, the enemy sometimes uses pride, offenses, bitterness, and the desire to gratify the flesh to take away God’s peace. For instance, when you choose to get involved in someone’s argument, rather than minding your own business, you entangle yourself with unnecessary conflict that won’t bring you inner peace. Or when you choose pride over the forgiveness of a person who caused you an offense, you are only setting yourself a trap for the enemy to play tricks on your mind. However, forgiving the person and letting God handle the case sets you free and gives you peace. Romans 12:18 says, “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”

Make it a habit to wake up each morning with a grateful heart so you can have the peace of God. Instead of thinking about problems, offensive people, or challenging situations, look unto His faithfulness, goodness and greatness. Celebrate every victory that God has brought to your life, and allow the Holy Spirit to fill your mind with things for which you can be grateful.

What must I do to attain God’s peace?

Starting your day by saying a morning prayer for gratitude for peace is one of the ways to begin your day both powerfully and peacefully. When you wake up and set your mind on the Heavenly Father and His Word, His presence gives you peace as you call to Him.

Aside from saying a morning prayer (Morning Prayer for Gratitude to God), one of the best ways to truly attain God’s peace is consistency, discipline, and persistence in your daily walk with God. When you are consistent in your affection towards Him, disciplined enough to say no to the things that don’t glorify God, and persistent even when trials and challenges come, God’s peace will always be with you. After all, when you choose God, His Spirit draws near. And the Holy Spirit produces this fruit in your life—love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

Partner with the Holy Spirit each day, and God will never fail to let you experience His peace. No matter what is happening around you, be still and trust that God will give you peace. When temptations come, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. The Holy Spirit will never fail to empower you, convict you and encourage you in your walk of faith with God, which will always result in God’s mighty peace descending upon your life.

God bless you, and may the God of peace crush Satan under your feet, in Jesus’ name.
