Morning Prayer for Comfort Before Surgery

Whether it is your friend in church, their loved one, or your loved one who is about to have surgery, one of the things that we can do for them is to intercede for them through prayers. In (I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 1 Timothy 2:1), the Bible teaches us that we are to make prayers, supplications, and intercessions for all people. That is why we pray in the morning for comfort for those about to have surgery. 

Father in heaven, I pray for (name of the person), who is about to have surgery. I pray for comfort upon him. Thank You because You are with him throughout the surgery. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

How do you pray for comfort in the morning for someone having surgery?

To pray a morning prayer for someone who is about to have surgery, first know what they need comfort for. Is it something related to peace? What is a good Bible verse for someone going into surgery?

As mentioned above, the best comforting words that you can say and pray for a person who is about to have surgery can be found in the Bible. Below are some comforting Bible verses you can use when you pray in the morning for their comfort and encouragement.

The first one is from Deuteronomy 31:8-9. You can use that verse to comfort the person having surgery by reminding him that God is with him as he goes through it. God never leaves him nor forsakes him; therefore, there should be nothing for him to be afraid of.

The second one is from (Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Psalm 23:6), which tells us that for those in Christ, goodness and mercy follow us throughout our lives. This thought can be comforting for the person who is having surgery. Even as he enters the operating room, God’s goodness and mercy follow him there.

The third one is the parable of Jesus from Matthew 10:29-31. The point of the parable is that God values those of us who are in Christ and is the One Who holds our life. Surgery may have risks, but we are confident because, in the end, it is not the doctors who hold our life in hand, but God, Who values us.

Father in heaven, thank You because You are the God Who is always with us. You are always with (name of the person) as he goes into the surgery room. Remind him, Father, that he has nothing to fear because You are the One Who values him and holds his life. Thank You because Your goodness and lovingkindness always follow him wherever he goes. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

These are just some of the many comforting verses you can use to encourage and pray for the person you know who is about to have surgery. If they are not yet a Christian, then the most important thing that you can pray for is their salvation. Also, you can tell the person that you remember them in your prayers. It encourages and comforts them in the sense that they know that they are not alone.
