Entrepreneurs, in simple terms, are people who venture into the world of business. The business they start can be common, like restaurants, clothing stores, laundry shops, services, and so many more, ranging from small to big companies. However, there are also entrepreneurs whose goal is to push the boundaries of convention through innovation. Some examples are startups or companies that innovate in technology, biotech, space tech, artificial intelligence, and many more.
Heavenly Father, I thank You because in Your sovereignty, You use entrepreneurs and their businesses to show your care for the world through the advancements and contributions they bring to our quality of life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

How can I glorify God in my business?
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 10:31 (Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.) that everything we do should be done for the glory of God. Thus, when we do business or venture into a business, we do it for the glory of God.

But how do we venture into business in order to glorify Him? The answer to that is simple – by doing it for God. When you launch a business as an entrepreneur, it is not your own interest that you should have in mind but God’s. In other words, you glorify God in your business by using your business for God’s purposes, expanding His kingdom through it, and being the salt and light to the world.
That is why the Bible says in Colossians 3:23 (And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;) that we work heartily for the LORD and not for men. When you, as an entrepreneur, run your business and pursue your endeavors as a company, you are doing it for the LORD. That is why it is in God’s interest that you pursue and uphold His laws as you run your business.

Lastly, the Bible says in Matthew 5:13-16 that we are the salt and light of the world. In the context of biblical times, salt is commonly used to do two things. One is to make food taste better when cooking, and the second is to preserve meat or other perishable foods since they didn’t have refrigerators back then. Being the salt of the world means making things around us better and preserving that which is good.
As entrepreneurs, this could mean innovating better technology to improve people’s lives. It could also mean making beneficial products or services available and affordable for people who need them. Whatever it is, you should aim to improve and preserve what is good using your business or startup.
Being the light means pointing people toward the ultimate light of the world, which is Christ. People may have the latest electric cars, top-shelf technology for efficient everyday life, more advanced medical treatments, and artificial intelligence that makes work more manageable, but none of that matters if the Gospel is not part of the picture.
Those things are good, but they will never give you eternal life. Only through the preaching of the Gospel can people encounter Christ and receive the gift of eternal life. You become the light by proclaiming Christ as you pursue your endeavors as an entrepreneur.
Heavenly Father, help me put your interests and your kingdom above everything else as I pursue my entrepreneurial endeavors. Remind me that I am working heartily for You and not for myself or other men. Give me grace and use my company and my spirit to be the salt and light to the world and proclaim Christ to the lost. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

How do you pray before starting a business?
If you are an entrepreneur and are about to start your business, you can pray in the morning by thinking about what you have to do as you start your business. Do you have to find investors? Are you looking for the right people to work for you? Have you already found a good location for your business or office? How about the permits or licenses you need?
You begin to pray by gathering your concerns and needs as you start your business and lifting them to God as you pray to Him about what you hope will happen. Below is an example of a morning prayer for entrepreneurs starting a business:
Father in heaven, I still need investors in my business venture. I pray that You will lead me to the right investors who will not only invest but also share the same vision for the company as me. Bring the right people for the available jobs and give me the discernment I need as I interview them. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

In Philippians 4:6-7, it is written that we must present our prayer requests to God. Also, in Matthew 7:7-8, the Bible instructs us: ask, and you shall receive, seek, and you will find. Ask and seek God for whatever you need or present Him with the concerns you have as you start your business.
Another prayer you can say in the morning is a prayer where you simply have a conversation with the LORD. There is no strict guide for this one, as you say whatever you want to say to God in this kind of prayer regarding your new business. You can talk to God about the vision and hopes you have for the company, the challenges you have encountered, and the things for which you are thankful to Him. In Christ, we have received adoption as God’s children, so we can talk to God as our heavenly Father.
Father in heaven, I pray that my venture shall succeed. I am excited about the benefits it can bring to the lives of the people my services can help. At times, I find it challenging to manage everything, but I know that You will give me the grace to pull through. Thank You for giving me the opportunity and the provision to get into this venture. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

How do you pray for your business?
As an entrepreneur, you may already have a business or company. In that case, you can pray for your existing business and its continued success. How you pray for it is similar to what we mentioned above. You simply think of the concerns you have regarding your business, and then you surrender them to God. The difference between that and the example above is that you already have a business. Therefore, don’t pray about starting a business, as you are already well on your journey.
Below is an example of a morning prayer for entrepreneurs and their existing businesses:
Heavenly Father, I pray that we will be able to scale our company this year and increase awareness of our services. Give us the wisdom to innovate and yield promising results to serve the people better than we did yesterday. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Similar to what was mentioned above, you can also pray to God in a free and conversational manner, allowing you to talk to God about your business and thank Him for the blessings you have already received.
Father in heaven, we are running out of ideas for improving our products. Sometimes, we feel that we have hit a dead end. I pray that you will give us the creativity that we need to keep innovating. I know that we can do more for the people. I also hope that people will see the benefits of our products and how useful they can be. Thank You because you alone have brought us this far. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Lastly, whether you are just starting your business or if it already exists, it is good to say a morning prayer asking God for grace and strength to advance His kingdom through your business as the salt and light. Through that, you remind yourself of your purpose while simultaneously trusting God for the grace to do it.
A good verse to encourage you is from John 14:26, where Jesus told us that He would give us a Helper who would bring the things He taught us to our remembrance. The Holy Spirit not only helps us remember what Christ taught, but He is also the One who helps us as we proclaim Christ, minister to others, and act as the salt and light to the world.
Another great verse is from Acts 1:8, when Jesus said to His disciples before ascending back to heaven that we shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us and that we shall be His witnesses to the world. Whatever you do as an entrepreneur, it is all about preaching Christ and witnessing Christ to those who don’t yet know Him. As you do that, you are empowered by the Holy Spirit, and Christ will always be with you.
Heavenly Father, continually remind me why I do what I do in my company and for whom I am ultimately working. Help me always seek to advance Your kingdom and proclaim Christ through my startup efforts. Give me the grace and the strength that I need. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
As you seek to honor God and glorify Him in your ventures as an entrepreneur, remember that God is the One who looks after You and takes care of you. There will be times when you must make critical decisions, where wisdom, direction, and discernment are needed. With that in mind, check out the morning prayer for clarity and wisdom, morning prayer for clarity and direction, and morning prayer for clarity and discernment.
