Morning Prayer For Clarity At Work

We usually begin with great enthusiasm and drive as we do our work. We know the purpose and meaning of our work, and this gives us the drive to wake up every morning and go to work. We know that we are doing something that makes an impact on the work that we do.

However, after a while there are times when we find ourselves forgetting about those things. Now things need to be clarified as to why we do the things we do at work.

Heavenly Father, remind us why we do the things we do at work. Reignite the passion and zeal we have at work to make a difference there. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

How do you pray for mental clarity?

There are a lot of different scenarios in which a person may find it unclear why he or she is doing the work that he/she does and the purpose and meaning behind it. For example, let’s say one desires to become a lawyer, bearing in mind that he or she will be defending the innocent in court. However, reality sets in, and doing a lawyer’s work is not just about court trials but also loads of paperwork. That work can be so overwhelming that a lawyer can lose track of or clarity in his work.

When circumstances have caused us to lose clarity in our work, we are to respond in prayer by asking God to bring clarity to our minds. After all, we depend on God to dissipate whatever fog of confusion, doubt, and hesitation we may experience. In 1 Corinthians 14:33 (For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.), it is written that God is not a God of confusion but of peace. In the end, it is God Who reminds us of the purpose and meaning behind our work, and this reignites our passion and zeal.

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

We pray to God for clarity at work by following these three steps: The first is surrendering to Him whatever it is that overwhelms us with emotions and causes us to lose clarity. The second is to ask God for help in keeping us focused on the reason we are doing what we are doing. Our minds become clear as we focus on the reason or purpose and meaning of what we do. As written in Proverbs 4:26 (Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.), we are to ponder the path of our feet so that all our ways shall be sure. The third is to ask God to bring clarity to our troubled hearts.

Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

For example, let’s say you are overwhelmed with disappointment at work. It is not what you hoped it would be. You surrender that disappointment to God as written in Philippians 4:6-7 and then ask help from God to focus on why you are in your choice of profession in the first place. It also serves as a reminder to yourself and a confession of what your purpose is. As you surrender and realign, you then ask God to bring clarity to your heart, which has been troubled by disappointment.

Below is an example of a morning prayer for clarity for work:

Heavenly Father, I am disappointed and discouraged because of my work environment. So, I sometimes feel like quitting, and I don’t know if I should continue or not. Help me keep my eyes on the reason why I do my work. Even though things are hard, my purpose here is to serve You by helping others in my line of work. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

How can I put God first at work?

One of the reasons we lose clarity in our work is that we become consumed by it and lose the fact that the ultimate reason we do our work is to serve God and be the salt and light through that work. In Colossians 3:23-24 it is written that we primarily work for God and not for men. Perhaps we lose clarity because we have forgotten that it is for God that we ultimately work.

Therefore, what would bring us clarity again in our work is going back to the truth that when we work, we ultimately do it for the LORD and His glory, as written in Colossians 3:23-24. We put God first by doing everything at work for His glory and in service of Him.

Father in heaven, remind me that as I do my work, I am doing it ultimately for You and not for men. Help me to always glorify You in the work that I do and expand Your kingdom through it. May this always drive me to be excellent in my work and never lose clarity about why I do it. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Christ is the center of everything. Every work a church does, whether it is an outreach program, a worship service, youth camp, etc., is centered on Christ. If it is not centered on Christ, the church community loses clarity about why it does those ministry works. The same goes for those of us that work in the secular world. We should always remember that Christ is the foundation of everything we do.
