Morning prayer before exam

Upcoming exams can cause intense pressure, either causing a student to obsessively focus on studying or to feel overwhelmed by so much stress. The preparation and waiting is enough to make one feel extremely anxious, and as the day of the exam draws near, stress inevitably builds. Students may feel different reasons why they need to get good results. Pressure from family, heavy expectations set by themselves, or the urge to compete with others are all factors that come into play. They try to sustain their self-worth by getting good grades.

As you start this important day, bracing yourself for the exams, praying to God makes a huge difference. It puts us in a posture of humility and total dependence upon Him.

After studying so hard through sleepless nights and seemingly endless books to read, there’s still the dreaded possibility that everything you’ve read can suddenly just be forgotten.

No matter how much you prepare, there is still that worrying thought that anything could go wrong. It will affect your faith and rob you of your peace, but as you trust in the Lord and pray for your soul to calm down, you will experience true peace that goes beyond our understanding. Just as Jesus calmed the storm, he is also able to silence the noisy turmoil in your heart and mind. Don’t give in to fear and anxiety, simply allow God to do His work in you. As the Apostle Peter tells us, as we humble ourselves and acknowledge the power of God, when the time comes, He will lift us up. And as we cast all our concerns upon Him, He will carry our worries and burdens because He truly cares.

1 Peter 5:6-7 KJV

6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

1 Peter 5:6-7 KJV6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

How do I ask God for help on a test?

As our Father in Heaven, God cares so much about us that we are able to freely cast all our anxieties upon Him. It brings Him joy when we ask in faith and believe in His ability to answer our prayers.

However, before we can ask God for help during exams, we must also evaluate ourselves, determining whether we have been faithful to the task of studying for the test. Did we have the right discipline in our preparation? Faith is very important, but we also need to have the discipline to achieve what is expected from us.

James 2:18,20 KJV

18Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

James 2:18,20 KJV18Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

You may think that just having faith is enough, but James tells us that faith without the necessary works is empty. In fact, we must have the will to act on our faith to show that we truly believe in and trust God.

Faith that you will pass an exam without the essential work of studying diligently is useless. It is representative of laziness, which does not bring honor to God. On the other hand, we must also be careful with the dangers of self-sufficiency. One can find success in studying hard or reliance on innate talents.

As we ask God for help on our upcoming test, it is important to first humble ourselves and admit that He alone is the source of wisdom and knowledge. He gave us a brain, which gives us the ability to know and comprehend both the basic and the complicated things in life. He gave us the opportunity to learn in educational institutions. For the reasons above, we must never forget to be thankful.

We can pray for success after we start believing faithfully in good results on the exam and studying as hard as we can. We must act on our faith and show God that we truly believe that after all the hard work, nothing will be in vain, but our faith will be rewarded by God. We must rejoice and be thankful as we seek God and find strength in Him. Let the faith that we demonstrate in our exams give Him all the glory.

Psalm 105:3-4 KJV

3 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.

4 Seek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

5 Remember his marvelous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

What should I read in the Bible before an exam?

Seeking favor from the Lord through earnest prayer is good, but prayer grounded in His word is so much better, since you’re tapping into the heart and promises of God for His people based on His eternal and unchanging Word. As you pray for your exam, you can find many Bible verses that bring encouragement.

Pressure can be overwhelming and cause one to be restless. In times that you feel worry or anxiety, try reading some of the following verses:

[Psalm 55:22 KJV]

This verse encourages us to give all our worries to our Lord, and He will take care of you. He will never allow those whom He loves to fall into defeat.

[John 14:1 KJV]

In this passage, Jesus tells us to not allow trouble to consume us, but rather believe in Him and trust that He is able.

[Philippians 4:6-7 KJV]

Paul encourages us not to let our worries get in the way of our faith, but in all our needs, we must keep on praying and persistently asking God, while also keeping a heart of gratitude for what has already been given. As we hold fast to the knowledge that we are in Christ, His peace that goes beyond human understanding will protect our thoughts and feelings from unnecessary burdens.

[Psalm 94:19 KJV]

The Psalmist tells us that while our thoughts may be consumed by concerns, we can find comfort and happiness in God.

Worry and anxiety can rob a person of focus and confidence. An anxious heart can cloud the mind and be detrimental to one’s ability for good analysis; it can affect how well you can remember what you have studied. Reading these verses and declaring them upon yourself can help you calm down and regain focus.

There is also the issue of being afraid of how the exam might turn out. You may start to question yourself.

“Will I be able to remember what I studied?”

“Am I smart enough to pass this exam?”

“What if I fail?”

“What if in the middle of the exam, I start to experience a mental block?”

Tension starts to build up and your mind may wander into thoughts of a dark and uncertain future. Your faith starts to stumble. You have to pause, take a deep breath, and remember the promises of God. His Word is enough to calm and dispel your fears. When fear and doubt start creeping into your heart, claim these verses to bring in new courage:

[2 Timothy 1:7 KJV]

This passage reminds us that God did not give us a Spirit that makes us always afraid, but one that has power, love, and self-discipline.

[Isaiah 41:10 KJV]

God tells us not to be afraid or give in to discouragement, for the God who is with us helps and strengthens us. He upholds us and gives us the victory that we need, by His powerful hand.

[Psalm 34:4-6 KJV]

When David prayed while he was in trouble, the Lord answered him and gave him freedom from all his fears. He understood that those who look to God for help overflow with joy and are not easily given into shame. Our God listens to all our prayers as we cry out to Him and delivers us from all our troubles.

[Philippians 4:13 KJV]

When we put our confidence in our status in Christ, nothing easily scares us, as we know that He makes us strong enough to face anything.

These Bible verses remind us of how great our God truly is. Though our hearts may be filled with the fear of failing our exams, we can find encouragement in the unfailing Word of God. Inviting His presence and allowing His word to saturate our heart and soul in every moment of inner turmoil puts us in a state of transcendent peace. Know that God loves you so much and wants to be there when fear and doubt overtake you, just like when Peter tried to walk on water towards Jesus (Matthew 14:24-31). When he saw the wind and the waves, he started to panic and his faith started to wane. Fear and doubt kicked into his mind and heart. Then, he started to sink. Fortunately, Jesus was there, took his hand, and lifted him out from the water. Even though Peter gave in to fear and doubt, Jesus gently rebuked and lovingly rescued him.

[Psalm 62:7-8 KJV]

In this verse, David tells us that our victory and honor solely comes from the Lord. We find our safe place in Him and our strength is deeply founded in His Word. For that, we can fully trust in Him at all times and pour all our problems out to Him.

Reading helpful Bible verses and embracing the truth in them gives us a heart that seeks to live in dependence upon the grace of God. May we never forget who we should really lean on.

[Proverbs 3:4-6 KJV]

We must trust in God with all our heart and not depend on our own wisdom and understanding. This is something that we must always remember. As we continually seek His will in everything that we do, He gives us unfailing guidance in all our decisions and actions.

[Psalm 37:5 KJV]

As we trust God and commit our plans and steps to him, He will act on it for our sake, so we must wait patiently upon His answer.
