As Christians, we are called to be there for others, especially those who are hurting, grieving, or suffering a loss. We are called to love one another. 1 John 4:7-8 teaches us that if we truly are born of God and know God, then we will love our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. One of the ways we do that is by carrying their burdens with them, as written in Galatians 6:2, and one of the ways we carry their burdens is by praying for them.
Father in heaven, we thank You because You are a God who does not just sit idly and watch while your children grieve. Instead, You are a compassionate and merciful God who sustains and is always with them. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Morning Prayer For Comfort During The Loss
What to say to comfort someone after a loss?
Firstly, when talking about “loss” in this article, we are not just limiting it to the death of a loved one. We are talking about any loss, whether a business they lost, a job, or any valued or precious thing. Nonetheless, there is one common denominator among them—grief.
To know what to say to comfort and encourage someone who suffers a loss, you must know your Bible because the biblical comfort and encouragement you can say can only be found in the Bible. It is where you can find the truth. From there, you can draw the comfort and encouragement you then offer to someone experiencing a loss.
Below are several examples of Bible verses you can use to comfort someone:
The first one is from Lamentations 3:22-23, which tells us that the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, that His mercies are always new every morning, and that great is God’s faithfulness. That verse in itself, when read, brings great comfort. However, you can expound on it by saying that for God’s children, no matter how hard waking up seems to be because of their recent loss, God’s mercy is new every morning, and His love is always there because it is steadfast.
Another verse is Romans 8:35-39, which teaches us that for those in Christ, nothing can separate them from His love. You can comfort and encourage them by reminding them that no matter how painful or hard their circumstances may be, nothing can ever separate them from the love of Christ.
The last one is from (The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Psalm 34:18), a famous verse that Christians use to comfort others. However, it is still good to remind someone after a loss that God is not far from them in their season of grief. God is near them, and for those in Christ God is the One who saves those whose spirits are crushed.

Morning Prayer For Comfort During The Loss
These are not the only verses from which you can draw comfort and encouragement for someone who is grieving. The point here is that the Bible is our source for it. If we want to know what comforting words we can say to a grieving person, the solution is to open our Bibles. Also, if the person you are trying to comfort is not yet a Christian, the greatest comfort you can share with them is the Gospel of Christ.
How do you pray for comfort in times of grief?
The section above is connected to this section because we pray for comfort for someone who is grieving by simply identifying comforting and encouraging verses in the Bible and then praying them for the grieving person. Drawing on the verses that we have given above, here are several examples of how we can pray for comfort in the morning for someone who has experienced a loss:
From Lamentations 3:22-23
Heavenly Father, we thank You because, in times of loss, Your love is still there for (name of the person) because it is steadfast. No matter how hard it is for (name of the person) to wake up in the morning due to his grief, Your mercies are new every morning. Thank You because (name of the person) can count on You because You are faithful. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Morning Prayer For Comfort During The Loss
Romans 8:35-39
Lord Jesus, You suffered and died on the cross because of Your love for us. Thank You because no matter how painful the season (name of the person) is going through, nothing can ever separate him from Your love. Just because he is grieving does not mean Your love cannot reach him. Remind him, Lord, that he is more than a conqueror through You who loves him. In Your name, I pray. Amen.

Morning Prayer For Comfort During The Loss
Psalm 34:18
Father in heaven, I thank You because You are the God who never leaves or forsakes us. Holy Spirit, I pray that You would remind (name of the person) that even in times of grieving, You are not far from him; instead, You are near him. Remind him that You are the One who saves him who is crushed in spirit and that even if he feels You are not there, You are there because You are a promise keeper. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Morning Prayer For Comfort During The Loss
Another practical tip you can do is set an alarm every morning, so you will be reminded every time you wake up to pray for someone you know who is currently suffering a loss. One of the ways we can show our love and support to someone who is grieving is by covering them in prayers every day and making time for our connection with God.
