Morning Prayer For Clarity And Peace

Clarity and peace are two things that will always be relative whenever we encounter a moment in life when we have to decide. We sometimes need help when we come to a certain point when we have to choose which path to take, so we pray for clarity and peace. The good thing is that, as the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 14:33 (For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.), our Heavenly Father is not a God of confusion but of order.

Father in heaven, I thank You because You are not a God of confusion. You give me clarity about which way I should go when making important decisions. You also give me peace as I go the way you want me to. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

What does the Bible say about clarity and peace?

If we find ourselves at a “fork in the road” where we have difficulty deciding, we pray to God for clarity and peace. We ask Him to make clear to us which path He wants us to take or which is the wisest choice. It is the same as when David prayed to God in Psalm 143:8 (Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.). We ask God to make known to us the way that He wants us to go. We have peace as we get clarity from God and discern which path to take.

Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

That is why people who decide without praying and weighing their decision carefully to see whether it is wise or not sometimes don’t have peace since it is not what God wants for them. Peace comes when we seek clarity and wisdom and walk toward the path that obeys God and glorifies Him.

One example of this is a man seeking God for clarity regarding his calling, such as whether to work in a big bank and become rich or to go on a mission in a hostile nation. Without clarity regarding what God calls him to do, a man may immediately decide to work in a bank and live a comfortable life; yet he does not have peace, while in choosing the alternative of doing missions in a hostile nation, he would have had peace because he would know he was doing what God wanted him to do.

Another thing that the Bible tells us about peace is from John 16:33 (These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.). It is written there that in this world, we will encounter tribulations. However, we can take heart because Christ has already overcome the world and given us His peace. There are times when the path that God wants us to take is not an easy one; circumstances could cause us to have worries and fears. However, in Christ we can have peace despite the uncertainties of our path because He has given us His peace. That is also why we take every step in faith toward God as Christians.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Morning Prayer for Clarity and Peace

How do you pray in the morning for clarity and peace?

There are two ways in which you can pray in the morning for clarity and peace. The first one is praying to God for clarity regarding which path to take in a particular matter in life. As you present your request for clarity to God, you will know which path or choice to make to have peace. You can follow the example of David in Psalm 143:8 when he asks God to tell him how he should go.

Below is an example of a morning prayer for clarity in which we shall receive peace:

Heavenly Father, I thank You because You said in Your Word that You would instruct and counsel me on which path I should take. Make it known to me and give me clarity as to which career path I should follow. Give me the wisdom also to see which decision is the wisest. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Morning Prayer for Clarity and Peace

The second kind of morning prayer you can pray is one where you ask God for peace of mind when the path you are taking because He wants you to take it is not easy. Let’s say you are a missionary deciding which nation to go to. You ask God for clarity as to which nation to go to, but most especially for peace for you and that nation if it is hostile to Christianity. You pray to God by asking God for clarity and direction regarding the path that you are already about to walk. Below is an example of this morning’s prayer:

Heavenly Father, I pray that You would give me clarity as to which nation I should go and reach out to. Regardless of which nation you want me to go to, especially if it is hostile, I pray for peace in my heart to silence my worries. Thank You because Christ has given me His peace. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

The difference between the two prayers is that the first one is about asking God for direction because no path is yet in mind. The second one is that there is already a path in mind, but more clarity and direction are needed.

The kind of peace the Bible teaches us to ask for is for being whole despite the storms and not for the absence of storms. As God gives us clarity about which way we should go, it does not mean that having peace means everything will go smoothly. At times, that direction can be full of challenges. However, we have peace because in Christ we are whole no matter what tribulations we may face.
