Morning Prayer for a Business

To have a business of your own, whether a small store, a tech startup, a manufacturing company, etc., is a good desire. As a Christian, you are called to be the salt and light to the world. One way you can be the salt and light is through your business. There are thousands of things that you can do with your business to reach out to people.

Matthew 5:13-16

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Heavenly Father, thank You because, by Your grace, You can use me and my business to be salt and light to the world. As I pray to start a business, help me that I may be able to make an impact on the lives of others and point people to Christ through it. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What does God say about starting a business?

If we desire something, we must ask God for it. Jesus said in Matthew 7:7 that we must ask, seek, and knock. Sometimes we do not have what we want because we do not ask. Starting a business is stepping out in faith and believing God will provide. As we step out in faith, we can meet God’s grace there and mature even more in this faith because we experience God’s grace, which is, in this case, when God provides what we need to start a business. Provision is one of the things that a person needs the most when starting a business because starting a business needs capital. Of course, as you pray to start a business, pray that you may be able to find excellent and faithful employees and open doors, whether that is in the market, a business partnership, or whatever opportunity that would benefit you as you start your business.

Matthew 7:7

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

3 John 1:2

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Here is an example of what you can pray in the morning as you pray for a business:

Father in heaven, You are the God Who owns everything in the universe. I pray for provision for the capital that I need to invest and start a business. I also pray that You would lead me toward the right people when hiring employees. May we have an open door in which I can start a business as I grab that opportunity? I come before You in humility and dependence on You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What is a good scripture for a business?

There are many good scriptures that you can meditate on as you pray a morning prayer for a business. These scriptures will remind us of how we ought to conduct our business. You can also pray these scriptures as a morning prayer.

Here are several examples of some good scriptures that you can pray as you pray a morning prayer for a business:

Colossians 3:23

Colossians 3:23 teaches us that we work not for men but God. The same applies to business owners. When you work and run your business, you do it primarily not for your customers but God. Your end goal is to glorify God through your business. A business is not a means to hoard wealth but to expand God’s kingdom.

Proverbs 16:8

Another one is Proverbs 16:8, where it is written that as we run our business, we should do it with righteousness. We are to walk in fear of the LORD and righteousness, even if it means fewer revenues or sales rather than big profits that result in evil and dishonest ways.

Acts 20:35

Lastly, you can also meditate on the verse from Acts 20:35. It tells us that we are more blessed when we give than when we receive. That correlates to the first verse we mentioned before—that as we conduct our business, we are doing it for the LORD. We put the LORD’s interest first in our business and use it to expand God’s kingdom. That includes being a channel of blessing to other people.

Here is an example of how you can use these verses in a prayer:

Father in heaven, You are all-wise. I pray for a business that I can use to expand Your kingdom and be the salt and light to the world. May my business become a channel of blessing to others. I also pray that I shall always be righteous in all my dealings and that I shall never resort to dishonest ways only for the sake of money. Remind me that everything I do is for You and Your glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
