What Do You Pray for Teachers?

When we think about our teachers, we think about their huge responsibility for future generations of learners. Given the heavy task placed on their shoulders, what we could do as believers is help them in a way that eases this weight by lending them a helping hand through our prayers. Praying for our teachers is a gift we can give them in exchange for all the lessons they have imparted to us. We understand that teachers have an important role in society, and we can support them through our prayers.

When we pray for teachers, it is important that we ask the Lord to first grant them wisdom. Teachers need much guidance from the Lord as their roles mold the lives of learners. They also face people from different walks of life. They need experience in how to handle every unique situation and individual pupil. We can ask the Lord to give them patience when students become difficult to love and teach. A teacher’s life is not easy, and they’re required to spend a lot of time preparing lessons and guiding their students. They are sometimes even expected to use their personal time to finish their tasks. We may ask the Lord to give them strength to weather through these difficulties and to give them physical, mental, and emotional fortitude. But most of all, we pray that teachers are touched by the Lord to show compassion to their students, especially since the times we are in are uniquely difficult. We need more people who teach us with love and compassion. We can pray for our teachers by following this prayer:

A prayer for teachers:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the life of our teachers. Thank You for using their lives to make a positive impact in this world. We pray that You guide their paths as they fulfill the responsibilities You have given them. Give them an abundance of wisdom so that they can fully understand the students and their needs. Open doors of knowledge for our teachers and let them have the tools necessary to effectively instruct their students. Help them to have patience and understanding for these students from different walks of life. Give them the ability to handle every unique situation and individual pupil with grace. Please bless our teachers with the strength to face any difficulty they may encounter. Cover them under Your mighty wings and give them the physical, mental, and emotional fortitude needed by a teacher. Touch their hearts and be the center of their life. Show them love and compassion. Hear their prayers and grant them the desires of their heart. Lord, we thank You for the gift that You have given us in the lives of our teachers. We are forever thankful. In Jesus name, Amen.

Why should we pray for teachers?

We often think of our teachers because they spent a lot of time helping and guiding us. They have seen us during our good and bad days. When we think about them, we also think about ways we can help and thank them.

We need to pray for our teachers because the best thing we can do to help them, other than carrying out our responsibilities dutifully, is to pray for them. Teachers are responsible for educating our children; they affect how these children’s futures could turn out. Prayers are a great help for people in such positions of responsibility. After all, teachers need all the help they can get in order to successfully impart such complex lessons onto the developing minds of students. Besides their scholastic responsibilities, teachers have personal responsibilities to take care of too; that is also why they need our prayers. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is difficult for teachers. Of course, we want our teachers to enjoy life too and not be burdened by their academic responsibilities all the time. That is why we also pray for their personal affairs and struggles. Our teachers are humans with emotions and problems. By praying for them, we care for them just as they cared for us. We can properly pray for them if we fully understand why they need our prayers.

Teachers have a big responsibility

We find teachers in every aspect of our lives. The first teachers we encounter in life are our parents or guardians. They teach us the basic things we need to survive, such as knowing how to socialize and become a part of a community. They are also the first ones to teach us how to take care of ourselves. Then there are scholastic teachers, who open a new world of information for us. They teach us a range of skills needed in the professional world, such as the basics of reading and writing and the complexities of mathematics and science. Let us also not forget our spiritual teachers, who shepherd us into knowing more about the Lord and eventually building a personal relationship with Him. All of the things they do put them in a place of responsibility. We can help them to accomplish these things by praying for them.

Teachers shape the future of their students

The beginning of the students’ childhood has an impact on their future. Since teachers are the most present companions during the students’ developmental years, they are the people, other than parents or guardians, who can guide our children toward a bright future. Teachers shape the future of their students by giving them access to opportunities they may not have at home and offering them the help they need at school. They teach us lessons that our parents may not have taught us, and, in a way, they are our second set of parents.

Teachers have personal struggles too

As smart and mighty as our teachers may seem, they are still humans who need help too. Though they rarely show students the struggles they are experiencing, this does not mean their lives are always smooth sailing. Some teachers experience personal troubles but still choose to show up at class because they know their students need them. They are also usually tired from the huge workload given to them and having to juggle their personal affairs. Teachers do not have it easy, so even if they always enter class and teach with a smiling face, they still encounter problems just as we do. That is why it would be nice if we showed our kindness and appreciation for them by praying for them.

Teachers serve as role models

Given that teachers are put in a position where they can influence the dreams and aspirations of students, it is important that they become good role models. Did you have a teacher who inspired you to work harder or even study the same field they had studied, therefore passing on the same interest and passion? Seeing as they can be positive role models to the youth, they become an important part of their development. Over the years we spend with our teachers, they teach us lessons along the way that we will carry throughout our lives. Their sphere of influence is so wide and lasting that we should pray our teachers live lives that are worthy to be emulated by our youths.

What could we ask the Lord for our teachers?

Now that we know how important our teachers are and the responsibilities they carry, we should also realize what we could ask the Lord for our teachers. Teachers are some of the first influences that can affect the mindset or worldview of a child. It is important that we pray that their influence on their students is positive. This can be possible only if the teachers themselves have these positive qualities. The Lord can mold our teachers into becoming good examples for their students, and we can pray that this will be the case. Teachers also have prayers of their own, and we can help share their burdens by praying that their prayers are heard by the Lord. In times when a brother or sister may be weak, we can strengthen one another through prayer. It is not a secret that teaching entails working long hours and being exposed to different types of people and environments. We need to pray for our teachers’ protection and safety at all times because we believe that the Lord can protect them. Most of all, we could pray that teachers will touch the lives of their students by being examples of faith. May our teachers inspire students to pray, meditate on the word of God, and spend time with the Lord.

What more could we ask the Lord for our teachers?

Ask the Lord to make them good examples for our youth.

We can ask the Lord to make our teachers living examples of His greatness. May their lives show how good our God is. We can pray that our teachers are passionate about what they are teaching so that they may inspire these new generations of learners. Also, it is important that we pray for teachers to show certain values, such as patience, kindness, honesty, and integrity so that the children emulate these values. Here is how you can pray for your teachers to be good examples to our youth:

Prayer asking God to make teachers good examples:

Lord, You are our greatest teacher. Today we ask of You to look upon our teachers and make them examples of Your greatness. Let them be examples of faith, kindness, and compassion. May they be followers of Your word, and may they also lead future generations into Your loving arms. Use them to turn children away from the deceit and malice of this world. Let them instead lead the children into the light of Your love. May they train their students to become good citizens of their community and also good followers of You, Almighty God. Lead them to do what is right and just before Your eyes. May the works of their hands glorify You above all. Amen.

This verse is all about being a light before the people we encounter. It shows that in the things our teachers do, they give glory not to themselves but to our Father in heaven, Who sees everything we do. Our teachers can please the Lord by being good examples to their pupils and peers.

[Proverbs 22:6 Start children off on the way they should go,  and even when they are old they will not turn from it.]

Teachers are here to train children. In order to do this, they first must set a good example of both faith and acts. Teachers who do this leave a lasting impact and mark. Students remember what they do and carry these lessons throughout their lives. We can include in our prayers that our teachers will be dutiful in training students in the way of the Lord.

Ask the Lord to hear their prayers.

Teachers support us in every way they can. They help us when we fall behind in our lessons and even give us extra time out of their day to listen to our concerns. We would be doing them a great favor if we could also lend them our time by praying for them and their needs. These teachers have their personal dreams and aspirations; they also have troubles and worries about life. Though practically we may not be able to solve these problems for them, what we can do is to bring these to the One Who hears and Who answers—our God. We should not forget to pray for our teachers and ask the Lord to hear their prayers. Pray that the Lord will answer them and help them. Here is how you can pray for your teachers to be heard by the Lord:

Prayer for teachers’ prayers to be heard:

Our Father in Heaven, You are most high. We approach You with both humility and confidence as we pray for our teachers today. We know You can hear us and our pleas. May You open Your ears and heart to our teachers, who utter their praises and prayers to You. Please hear their requests. As they live righteously, be attentive to their requests and uphold them with Your righteous right hand. They call on You, and we pray that You may hear them. You are a righteous God and will not turn Your ears away from those who call upon You. Thank You for giving us the opportunity to call upon Your name. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Bible verses to include in our prayers:

[Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.]

What Do You Pray for Teachers?

We can send our requests to God, and He hears them. Through prayer, we ask that our teachers also pray for themselves to be delivered by God from their current situations.

[Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.]

Those who come to God are heard by Him. It is in His presence that we can find peace and rest. We may not be able to personally remove the burdens from the shoulders of our teachers, but the Lord is able to ease the pains of those who are heavily laden.

Ask the Lord for their protection and health.

Long hours are common for teachers. Their day starts early as they need to prepare for school and the day ahead. Then they go to class and spend hours teaching students. Their work does not end there, as they also need to check and grade the students’ output. Some teachers also take the time to provide constructive feedback to every student, and this takes a lot of time. These long work hours make teachers prone to fatigue and sickness. We should pray for their endurance and health at all times. Here is how you can pray for your teachers to be protected by the Lord:

Prayer for teachers’ protection and health:

Dear God, we pray for our teachers’ protection and health because we know you care for them. We pray that they will enjoy good health and peace of mind daily. May you always keep their hearts cheerful and kind amid all the troubles in this world. Please give them your protection wherever they go. Be with them as they go to school and as they go home to their families. Strengthen our teachers’ health and shield them from any sickness and accident. We love you, Lord; hear our prayers. In Jesus name, Amen.

Bible verse to include in our prayers:

 [Psalm 27:12]

Teachers face numerous challenges in life, such as threats to their health and safety, but they have nothing to fear because the companion they have beside them is the Lord. He is our light and salvation, and no one can come against Him.

Ask the Lord to use teachers as avenues of wisdom and faith.

We already know how teachers are able to influence their students greatly. It would be helpful if we also pray to the Lord that He may use our teachers to let future generations know about God and His greatness. Considering the platform teachers are given, they have the perfect opportunity to plant seeds of wisdom and faith into the hearts of young students. Here is how you can pray for your teachers to be good role models:

Prayer for teachers to be avenues of wisdom and faith:

Heavenly Father, let Your voice be heard by our teachers. As You guide them, let their light shine on their students so that they may see Your goodness through them. Let our teachers speak of Your love, and may the students hear and accept these words. Allow our teachers to use their influence to positively affect the lives of their pupils. May their words make a mark on the hearts of the students. Let Your guidance dwell on them so that they may have the right words to say. Touch their hearts and remove timidity from them. May our teachers’ wisdom and faith serve as examples that inspire others. We thank You for the life of our teachers and how You use them for Your kingdom. Amen.

Bible verses we could include in our prayers:

[Jeremiah 29:11]

Whatever plans the Lord has for our teachers, we believe it is to give them a good future and lives used for His glory.

[Romans 12:2]

May our teachers not succumb to the evils and temptations of this world. Instead, may they be able to hear the voice of God and do things according to His will.

Praying for our teachers

Our teachers do their best for us every day. They spend their lives bettering ours and making a mark on our hearts. They are the first people who start to see and believe in our potential. Their words and actions play a part in shaping our future. They help us find our strengths and weaknesses. There are so many things they do for us that we may not even be aware of all of them, so let us not forget to help them too by sharing their burdens. The best way we can help them is through prayer. It is a powerful act that makes us a part of their struggles and somehow helps lessen their impact. Now we have learned we need to pray for teachers since they have big responsibilities, shape the future of the next generations, and deal with personal struggles too. We now become aware of how we can pray for them, so let us make praying for our teachers a part of our lives just as they have been an important part of ours.
