Have you experienced waking up and immediately feeling the regrets of past bad decisions and mistakes? Have you struggled in your prayer time with God when you wake up because of this? If you have been wondering how to approach God in the morning when you still feel condemned by yesterday’s mistakes, then it is no accident that God led you to this article.
Right now, God wants to tell you that He Himself is not condemning you for what you did. Sometimes, we can be so hard on ourselves that we forget the power of the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, who has terminated, nullified and disempowered the voice of failures, mistakes, and sins. The blood of Jesus Christ is always enough for you to receive God’s forgiveness and be able to move forward without being hindered by the past.
The apostle Paul had a great revelation about this, for we all know that his past life was terrible—he was a murderer of those whom Christ Jesus loved. When God redeemed him, he received a marvelous revelation of God’s grace, such that his past did not hinder him from sharing the Gospel! Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” He decided to only look forward and forget the things of the past because he was deeply focused on Jesus and fulfilling the will of God.
The wisest thing for you to do is forget about yesterday’s mistakes. Learn from them and move on with the Holy Ghost! Remember, it’s not just you who committed a mistake yesterday. There are many other believers also moving through their walk of faith. However, condemning yourself and dwelling on your past mistakes is not God’s will. It is actually a form of idolatry that suggests your mistakes are bigger than God, who is able to wash away your sins and make everything work out for the best.
So, when you pray in the morning and if the voice of condemnation echoes in your mind, simply praise God and thank Him for giving you another day, another chance as a brand new child of God, washed by the blood of Jesus! Magnify the work of Jesus on the cross and declare that you are not defined by your past mistakes. You are still a work of God in progress and your mistakes will only make you wiser on your journey with God.
