Morning Prayer for Comfort Today

Whenever we face a new day, there may be things that are overwhelming for us. There may be upcoming events during the day that we feel anxious about, such as when a student is about to take an exam that particular day. Sometimes the concerns and worries that we have come from day-to-day events, such as when parents feel anxiety whenever their child goes to school for the day. Regardless of our day-to-day cares, we should seek God for comfort.

Father in heaven, we thank You because Your throne of grace has been made available to us through the blood of Christ. Because of that, we come before you every day for comfort from our daily worries. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What is a good prayer of comfort for today?

A good prayer of comfort does not have to be long. A short morning prayer that addresses your concerns would be sufficient. Jesus said in Matthew 6:7-8 that we are not to heap up empty phrases in our prayers, thinking that God will hear them even more. Just a simple prayer that is direct and to the point will do. Keep in mind that God is all-knowing. He knows what we are about to ask before we even ask Him.

While you pray for comfort in the morning for the things you are about to face, you can and should include other people in your prayers. The Bible teaches us in 1 Timothy 2:1 (I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;) that we are to make prayers and supplications for all people. That means praying for comfort for anyone who needs comfort, especially our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, for whom we should carry their burdens.

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

Also, a good morning prayer for comfort is based on the Scriptures. As we always say, there is no better place to look for comfort other than the Word of God. The Scriptures are the Word of God themselves. They contain who God is and His promises in which we can take comfort.

Heavenly Father, we thank You because You have given us the Scriptures, which is Your Word, in which You have especially revealed who You are and the promises that we have in Christ. Your Word is the comfort that we have in times of affliction. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

While the focus of your morning prayer for comfort is for the day, you can also pray for comfort for the future. We have several other articles about that. But for now, this article focuses on praying in the morning for today’s comfort.

How do you pray for today’s comfort?

How you pray for today’s comfort in the morning is first identifying the things for today that cause you anxiety, worries, sadness, etc. Things that you need comfort for. After that, go to the Scriptures and look at what the Scriptures say about your particular concern. Once you have found that, you can pray to God in the morning for the day’s comfort using that particular Bible verse.

For example, let’s say something happened. You have been sad for the past few days. You are praying to God in the morning for comfort for the day. One of the scriptures in which you can pray and take comfort in Psalm 147:3 (He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.), which says that God heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Here is an example of how you can pray the scripture for the day’s comfort or sadness:

Father in heaven, I take comfort in knowing that You are the One who heals me and binds up my wounds. Thank You because You are always near me and take good care of me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

The prayer above is something that already thank God for comfort in knowing the truth in the Bible. However, you can also pray in a manner where you ask God for comfort. It is similar to what King David prays in Psalms, where he cries out to God.

One example of this is given below:

Heavenly Father, as I am about to take my exam later, comfort me, for I am anxious about my exam. Give me peace and stillness in my heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, as I am about to take my exam later, comfort me, for I am anxious about my exam. Give me peace and stillness in my heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

However, the position in which we pray the prayer is still from the standpoint of knowing the promises of God and what the scriptures say. We ask because we know who God is and His promises.

Praying for comfort is not something that we should do from time to time, but rather daily. Every day we encounter challenges and problems in life. Therefore every day, we should pray for comfort, whether for small or big matters. That is why one of the best times to pray is in the morning when our day is still about to start.
