How to Pray in the Morning Without Social Media

Do you fail every time you attempt to pray to God first thing in the morning because your mind is somewhere else? Do you desire to seek God first thing in the morning but then other things – social media like Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram – get in the way? I know it must be frustrating for you, but don’t succumb to that voice of condemnation that makes you feel unworthy before God. Know that you are not alone in this struggle, and there are many other believers who are going through these frustrations too.

So, how are you to pray in the morning when the first thing on your mind is other things like social media and not God? If you are asking this or a similar question and have not found a way yet for yourself, you are on the right article. It must be made clear to you that you won’t be able to do this by your efforts alone. When we do things for the Lord on our own, we will fail every time. You need the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, to be able to do them. It is only by the Spirit of God that we are able to respond to God’s higher calling in our lives. Know that it was the Father Who placed that desire in your heart to have an undivided focus on Him as you wake up in the morning.

For you to commit yourself with undivided attention to your morning prayers with God, eliminate the things that are keeping you distracted as soon as you wake up. If your gadget or cell phone is on your bed or near your reach, it’s easy to fall into the temptation to grab it and then scan through social media sites. Put devices far away from you before you go to sleep. It may help to place your Bible at that location instead. Then simply pray to the Holy Spirit to help you wake up and have undivided attention for God as you pray in the morning.

Whenever your mind wanders away as you pray to God in the morning, or as soon as you realize that you have dozed off, simply get back to God and continue with your prayer. Don’t dwell on your mistakes. God understands you as you go through this process, and He is patient with you and so proud of you that you have taken His invitation seriously. Be patient with yourself and simply rely on the working power of the Holy Spirit as you obey. You are blessed and should be excited as Your Heavenly Father takes you deeper in your relationship with Him.
