Morning Prayer For Grace And Favor

As we face difficulties and hardships, it takes grace for us to persevere and press on in life. It is also God’s grace through Christ that enables us to be strong where His power is made perfect in our weakness, as written in 2 Corinthians 12:9 (nd he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.). It is by God’s grace that we can live a victorious life and thrive as Christians despite the challenges that we are facing in life. 

Heavenly Father, I thank You because in Christ I receive grace upon grace, which enables me to persevere and remain steadfast in challenging times. Remind me that even in times of difficulties, I am victorious and can thrive as a Christian because of the grace I receive from Christ. Whenever I am weak, there I am strong. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What is a good morning prayer to start the day?

As we face the day, we have concerns and needs for that particular day. As we face them, we will need God’s grace and favor. Therefore, praying for God’s grace and favor is one of the good morning prayers we can have as we start our day.

Grace and favor are the same because grace is an unmerited favor we receive from God. We never deserved grace, yet God gave it to us. Before, because of our sins, we were enemies of God. What we deserved was His wrath, not His favor, grace, and love. However, Christ came to reconcile us with God, as written in Romans 5:10 (For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.). 

Christ died on the cross and paid the penalty for our sins. In 2 Corinthians 5:21 (For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.), it is written that the Father made Christ, Who knew no sin, to be sin so that we may become the righteousness of God. In other words, it is only because of Christ that we are justified in the eyes of God and see the righteousness of Christ in us. Because of that, we receive God’s grace, mercy, and even favor. Whatever favor we ask for and receive from God, it is all because of Christ’s work on the cross for us.

In line with what Christ has done on the cross for us, we can approach God’s throne of grace and ask Him for grace and mercy in times of need, as written in Hebrews 4:16. That means if there are concerns that you have for the day in which you need God’s grace and favor, you can come before God and ask Him for it as you face another day.

Father in heaven, I thank You because I can pray for grace and favor for my concerns for the day. Christ has broken down the wall of hostility between us, brought peace, and caused me to be adopted into Your family so I can call You “Father” and depend on You daily. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

How do I pray in the morning for grace and favor?

You pray for grace and favor by asking God for it regarding the specific matter for which you need help that day. For example, let’s say a person has a job interview for the upcoming afternoon. That person can pray for grace and favor in the morning for his job interview, as in the prayer given below:

Father in heaven, thank You for giving me another day. I pray for Your grace and favor for my job interview later this afternoon. Give me the grace and wisdom to answer the questions wisely and have favor in the interviewer’s eyes so that they will give me a favorable response. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

In Philippians 4:6-7, it is written that we are not anxious about anything, but we present those prayer requests to God so His peace, which transcends all understanding, shall guard our hearts and minds. What are the matters that you are concerned about for the day? Present those matters to God and ask Him for the grace and favor you need.

We are dependent every day on the grace and mercy of God as we go through our daily lives. Therefore, grace and favor are something that we ought to pray to God for every morning—it means that we are dependent on Him every day. It takes humility to acknowledge and ask God for grace and favor.
