We all have different ways to start our day, whether it’s going to be a long and busy day at work or we’re working in an environment where there is not much pressure. Some people get a boost from drinking coffee, some like to jog or walk, while some just go off to work in a hurry. How you start your day can affect your focus, productivity, energy, and responses at work, so the best incentive is to have the habit of praying before doing anything else.
Starting your day with prayer before work is an act of humility and dependence, acknowledging that God is the top priority of your life and the ultimate source of success. It is to seek after God’s plan and blessing for your day; finding new strength and guidance for what awaits.
We need His encouragement and inspiration for a potentially challenging day. And above all, the indispensability of His presence gives rest and assurance to a wary and uncertain soul. Nothing in this world can ever come close to how the Lord invigorates and rejuvenates His people.
Praying to God in the morning before going to work is simply saying that we trust in God’s fresh and unfailing grace as we go into our daily tasks. We anchor our hope for the day not on temporary sources but on God’s unchanging and infallible character and Word. Having that thought is the best thing you can do to boost your day.

Morning Prayer Before Work
Lamentations 3:22-24 KJV
Daily, we wake up to the grace and faithfulness of God’s unfailing love. Every morning He demonstrates His love in new and endless ways. God will always remain faithful in every circumstance. That is why we can fully put our trust in Him.
How do I pray in the morning before work?

Morning Prayer Before Work
For some people, the habit of praying in the morning before work can be quite hard, especially for those who usually have very busy and stressful workdays. But forming this essential habit can greatly help you thrive throughout the day. Some may think that it can take too much of their time or they don’t have much of an idea on how to pray in the morning before work. But it is not really that time-consuming or hard. It is, in fact, easy and can be done in just 10-15 minutes. Here is a helpful format for praying in the morning:
1. Prayer of gratitude
It is good to start by thanking God for giving you a new day to live and experience His grace every day. You can give Him reasons to be thankful, not just for the good things but the bad ones as well. There’s always something to be thankful for. Being thankful reminds us that we don’t own anything but are merely enjoying what God is entrusting to us as stewards of His blessings. Gratitude keeps us humble whether in lack or abundance.
2. Read the Bible
Read one or two short verses in the Bible. You can read from Psalms or Proverbs. This will help you find wisdom and encouragement for the day. It is like taking vitamins for your soul. As the body needs proper nourishment, so does the soul need feeding from the real source that brings true nourishment to our souls, the Word of God. When we feed less from His eternal Word, we end up with a malnourished soul.
3. Reflect on the passage
After reading, it is good to ask God what He is telling you about in this particular verse. Pray for guidance and reflect on how it applies to you. This will help prepare you for how you make your choices and how you respond to every situation you may face. His Word is a lamp to guide our steps and a light that brings clarity to the direction of our path (Psalm 119:105).
4. Declare the Word
Whether the word is a promise, encouragement, or correction, declare its power over your day. The Word of God is alive and powerful. Claim it in the name of Jesus!
5. Ask for what you need
Pray to God for what you need today. The more specific you are, the better. Aside from the power of prayer, this will help you process your thoughts and emotions. God knows and cares for our needs, but still, He wants us to ask, like a son in need asks things of a loving and attentive father. Always trust in His love, wisdom, and power.
6. Ask for His presence
Lastly and most importantly, pray that you will be sensitive to God’s presence as you go through your day at work. In Psalm 23, God is portrayed as a great shepherd Who cares and watches over His flock. Being attentive to His presence brings provision, peace, comfort, guidance, courage, protection, and hope as you allow Him to lead you.
Why wait until you are in trouble before you pray to God when you can start the day expressing your full dependence upon Him? So, start building now that rhythm of praying before you go to work.
Philippians 4:6-7 KJV
This passage exhorts us not to let our concerns hinder our faith. But in all our needs, we must persistently ask God that we may also keep a grateful heart for what He has already given us. As we are firmly established in knowing that we are in Christ, His peace, which goes beyond our limited understanding, will protect our thoughts and feelings from being consumed by all our troubles.
How do I pray for protection at work?

Morning Prayer Before Work
Every day, we face different obstacles, some of which can be threatening. Here we are not talking about just potentially life-threatening situations but all possible threats that you may or may not be aware of. We can categorize them into four aspects: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. These complications can put your life and welfare at risk. So, we must learn to pray for God’s protection specifically in these areas.
Whether you are working in construction or at a hospital or office, many potential health hazards can be present. There are obvious ones like accidents at work or the likelihood of catching a deadly virus, but there are also those that sometimes we ignore even though they can greatly affect our physical welfare, such as stress and overfatigue.
You can come to God in prayer and ask for His protection from instances that may put your life in danger. Pray in the understanding that the LORD watches over us and can protect us from physical harm.
Besides praying for protection against physical threats, you can also pray to God against instances or conditions that may break a person’s mental or emotional health, which can lead to a plethora of psychological and emotional issues. Situations such as a failure at work, abusive language used against you by your boss, or bullying from colleagues can adversely affect your consciousness of your self-worth and your ability to express emotions.
Pray that God will keep your thoughts captive and, regardless of how hurtful they may be, ask that those thoughts and emotions be obedient to Christ. God has the power to protect us from mental and emotional threats and can cancel their negative effects. We must pray upon our souls that whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy, we will fill our thoughts and hearts with such things (Philippians 4:8).
And finally, we must constantly pray against the unseen dangers in the spiritual realm. We may be aware of the physical, mental, and emotional harm that threatens us, but we must never discount the potential spiritual influence or oppression that lurks in every part of our world. Demonic forces, left unchecked, can wreak havoc in a person’s work life and work relationships. This can cause conflicts, disfavor, schism, and even physical, mental, and emotional harm. Satan and his demons, given even a foothold in any part of our lives (Ephesians 4:27), only seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Only God has the power to demolish their works.
Pray that as you work, the enemy’s schemes against you will not prosper and that God will make you mindful of the real enemy—not your boss, not your colleague, but the demonic forces in this world (Ephesians 6:12). Be vigilant! Watch out for the great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8).
But put your confidence in the greater lion that is Jesus. As you pray for protection daily, trust that the Lord loves you enough to care for your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual welfare. He is your refuge and your stronghold. And He has the power to answer your prayers. For God, no obstacle is impassable, and no situation is impossible.
Psalm 91:1-2,14-16 KJV
When we choose to live under God’s presence, we find protection under the shadow of the Almighty God. In Him, we are safe and well-rested. We can put all our trust in Him. He promised that when we call upon Him in our troubles, He will answer us promptly. For those who love God, He rescues and protects them, and His presence will go with them even amid trials. Whatever we face at work, God can deliver us from any difficult situation.
