Morning Prayer for Gratitude for Your Home

While a house is merely a building, a home is made of people who belong to each other. Whether you live in a home with a mother, father, and siblings, in an orphanage home, a Christian home, a refugee’s home, or a home for the elderly, it is a great blessing to have a home where you belong.

God wants us to have a home where we belong, to be loved, and to love. We also have a home in our Heavenly Father’s arms, the redeeming love of Jesus Christ, and the passionate pursuit of the Holy Spirit. Each morning as you think of all these truths, you can wake up each day with gratitude for your home, whatever your case may be.

Here is a morning prayer that you can offer to God in gratitude for your home:

Heavenly Father, thank You for this wonderful day that You have made. I am filled with gratitude, knowing that I have a home I can wake up in each day. Thank You for everyone present in this home, and may You fill this day with Your love and presence, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Ephesians 1:5-6 says that it is God’s perfect will for us to belong to His family: 

Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Many people in the world struggle because they do not have a home or a family, without realizing that through Jesus Christ, we can all have a home. 

That is why it’s important that as Christians, we share the wonderful truths of the Gospel to those who are lost and broken so that they may know they have a home in Christ and in us. Then they too can live each day with a grateful heart for a home in the Father’s embrace. 

What can I pray for in my home?

Having a home to belong and wake up to each morning should make your heart swell with gratitude. You can start your day by praying to God and giving thanks for your home.

Moreover, there are many other things you can pray for your home:

1. Pray for peace in your home.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:27

2. Pray for God’s presence to fill your home.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Psalm 16:11

3. Pray for God’s protection in your home.

The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Psalm 121:7-8

4. Pray for unity and humility in your home.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Philippians 2:3

5. Pray for the manifestation of the fruit of the Spirit in your home.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23

6. Pray for the Holy Spirit to reign in your home.

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

7. Pray for God’s hand of blessing and favor to be in your home.

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

How do I fill my home with God’s presence?

Gratitude surely fills one’s home with the presence of God because gratitude is heaven’s culture and atmosphere. When we are grateful, we give thanks and praise to the One who deserves it most. 

Simply keep your heart filled with gratitude each morning as you begin the day with prayer. Meditate on God and His Word, worship Him, and fill your home with a heavenly atmosphere by being mindful of God. The more you fix your eyes on heavenly things, the more you can fill your home with God’s presence.
