Morning Prayer for Productive Day at Work

We all want to be as productive as we can with the work we are blessed with by God. It is man’s nature and design to be fruitful and prosperous in all that we do, which began on the day God created man. He placed man in the Garden of Eden to work and watch over the world (see Genesis 2:15). As you are here searching for a morning prayer for a productive day at work, know that you are in the right place, as it is God’s will to bless the work of your hands and be as fruitful as possible in Christ Jesus.

As you wake up and give thanks to the Lord for your life, you can pray in this manner for a productive day at work:

Dear God, thank You for this life and all that You have given me. As I do all the things I must accomplish today, may your presence in me bear fruit so that I may be productive in all things through Christ. Thank You for strengthening and empowering me today to glorify You in everything I do, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Fruitfulness and productivity can only be achieved when you are in the presence of the Lord. Jesus said in John 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” As believers, it is our greatest gift and privilege to be in partnership with the Lord in all things that we do so that whether we work, eat, drink, or rest, we will bear much fruit, just as He promised.

Morning Prayer for a Productive Day at Work

God’s Scriptures are always there to guide us on our paths. God’s Word directs our footsteps and everything that we do, say, and meditate on. Here are some Scriptures that can offer insight on what to pray for in the morning to be productive and prosperous in your work:

  1. Proverbs 14:23
  2. Ecclesiastes 9:10
  3. 1 Corinthians 10:31
  4. Philippians 4:13
  5. Proverbs 6:6-8
  6. Psalms 90:17
  7. Deuteronomy 30:9
  8. Proverbs 3:5-6
  9. Luke 16:10
  10.  Jeremiah 29:11

While there is worldly wisdom and heavenly wisdom for us to distinguish between, as written in James 3:13-18, we must also be discerning towards productivity and prosperity according to God’s Word, and not according to the flesh.

For instance, self-righteousness can make you produce worldly achievements according to your own efforts, but these have no eternal values, whereas Christ-righteousness means abiding by the Lord and producing the results that He wanted in our lives—character growth, endurance, perseverance, faith, hope, and love in all situations and challenges that we face at work, at home, in school, in ministry, and everywhere else.

These are far greater and longer lasting fruits that God wants to produce in us, far more than what we can achieve by relying on our own strengths and efforts unconnected to Him.

Morning Prayer for a Productive Day at Work

There will be days that you don’t feel like working at all, which is contrary to being productive in your work. There will be moments when you don’t feel like getting up, getting to work, and getting things done. This may be your body’s way of telling you to take a break. Remember, even God rested on the seventh day after working for six to create the universe.

Rest is part of God’s plan and will for our lives. We are not meant to work and toil without rest. It is important to balance our time so that we can be even more productive on the days we work after getting rest.

Here are some things you can do if you don’t feel like working when you wake up in the morning:

  1. Ask yourself if you have been getting enough rest. If the answer is no, make a plan to get that rest, no matter what.
  2. If you just feel lazy about working, remind yourself of the goals and visions that help motivate you to work.
  3. Remove all distractions that may cause you to lose motivation for work.
  4. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit for empowerment to get you back on track.

Remember that your work is a blessing from the Lord, especially in these difficult times where opportunities can be hard to come by. If you have been resting and don’t feel like working, seek the Lord for guidance. Perhaps there are deeper reasons behind your feelings, such as problems with a co-worker, or a drop in your passion for your career.

As mentioned in the list above, it is easier to be motivated when you remind yourself why you are working in the first place. What was the original reason? What was your goal? What were your dreams and visions when you began working for them in the first place? The Lord will help you and remind you of these things as you seek His guidance and wisdom. Don’t forget to work in partnership with God’s Spirit as soon as you wake up in the morning, which will allow you to be as productive as you can during the day.

Whether you are a student, a working mom or dad, a housewife, a businessman, a pastor, a church leader/elder/worker, or any other profession or calling, Jesus said to abide in Him and His Word so that you will bear much fruit in everything you do. May the Lord bless the work of your hands and make things prosperous in your life, in Jesus’ name.
