How do I Start my Morning with God?

Morning is an important part of the day because what you do with your morning sets the course of your entire day, and this can affect your mood, the atmosphere in and around you, and how well you end the day. It is important that, as a believer, you connect with God the moment you open your eyes, for it is the Lord who guides your every step on the right path each day, keeping you safe from harm.

To start your morning with God, you can pray to the Father as you open your eyes. You can pray in this manner:

Heavenly Father, thank You for waking me up and giving me this beautiful morning. I dedicate this day to You. May everything I do today bring glory to Your name. Thank You for protecting and empowering me throughout the day in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Moreover, another way to start your morning with God is to read and meditate on His Word.

When you take time to read and meditate on God’s Word, your mind gets aligned, renewed, and empowered according to His will. Some may prefer having a devotional guide or plan that can help them in their daily Bible reading. If this is your first time, you can use some helpful devotional apps to guide you in your daily reading of the Bible. Some people prefer to read the Scriptures as the Holy Spirit leads them. For instance, as they pray in the morning, the Lord impresses Jeremiah 29:11 and Ephesians 6:11-13 on their minds.

Depending on what you are comfortable with and how you can connect with God, it’s the thought of desiring to communicate with God early in the morning that matters. God is delighted when we seek Him first in all things.

Dedicating the first part of your day to God will make for a powerful and productive day because He is the God of order and fruitfulness, and His presence causes you to succeed in all things you do through Christ Jesus.

What scriptures can I read in the morning?

As you desire to start your morning with God, one of the most powerful ways to connect with him as soon as you wake up is by meditating on His Word. The Word of God offers many things that a believer can meditate upon early in the morning, such as the promises of God about His plans that build up faith and hope, teachings and principles that mold one’s character, scriptures that bring healing and peace of mind, the overcoming of struggles, and so many others.

Here are some scriptures that you can read in the morning to empower and encourage you at the start of your day with God:

  1. Psalm 59:16
  2. Psalm 88:13
  3. Lamentations 3:22-24
  4. Psalm 5:3
  5. John 15:5
  6. Psalm 46:1
  7. Psalm 91
  8. Matthew 6:25-34
  9. 1 Peter 5:7
  10. Matthew 6:33
  11. Galatians 5:22-23
  12.  Proverbs 3:5-6
  13.  Romans 8:28
  14. John 14:27
  15.  Romans 8:26

There are countless Bible verses that you can read and meditate on in the morning as the Holy Spirit leads you. Whatever is currently speaking in your heart, you may search for that scripture and meditate on it as soon as you wake up. You can also make it into a prayer or declaration to make a powerful and effective prayer.

Why is it important to start your day with God?

As mentioned earlier, starting your morning with God sets the course of your entire day. When you start with God, you end the day with Him victoriously no matter the challenges you may face during the day.

As you walk in spiritual warfare daily, beginning the day with God is important because He alone can perfectly guide you, protect you, and keep you safe and on the right track. As you get up from bed, the Holy Spirit guides you on our day, for you are God’s true son and daughter. The scripture says, “All who are led by the Spirit are sons of God” (Romans 8:14).

Moreover, the only way to walk victoriously for the entire day is to start your morning with God and end your day with Him. Only through Christ Jesus can you walk in the victory God prepared for you. For instance, not every morning do you get perfectly smooth transactions and relationships with people. Sometimes, the enemy can use anything and anyone to ruin your day. However, starting your morning with God will keep you immovable and self-controlled no matter the negativity that may be happening around you.

The enemy’s goal is to steal, kill, and destroy (see John 10:10) your peace and joy, communication and relationship with important people, and many other things that matter to you. But starting the day with God keeps your mind on His promises, His Word, and His presence that keeps you secured and in peace. You know that God is always able to work things out for your good or that He will never leave you nor forsake you. When you know the Father’s Words, you won’t get caught off guard by the enemy’s distractions and schemes.

Starting your morning with God is a powerful decision to make each day. If you want to walk in Christ’s victory daily, begin by fixing your eyes on Him Who gives you peace early in the morning. God bless you and keep you in Christ!
