Morning Prayer for Gratitude in the Bible

Gratitude is a lifestyle that a believer must walk in. It is God’s perfect will for our lives that, in all circumstances, we are to be grateful. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

The Bible encourages us to walk in gratitude, as 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says that this is God’s will. Gratitude doesn’t have to be expressed only in the morning but at any time of the day. It can happen many times in a day if your heart can’t contain such gratitude for God’s faithfulness and goodness.

And starting your morning with a thankful heart can be a powerful way to begin the day. It sets your mind and heart toward heavenly perspectives as you look through God’s goodness and faithfulness and are thankful for them.

Here is a morning prayer of gratitude to begin your day:

Heavenly Father, thank You for this beautiful morning that You have given me. Your mercies are new every morning, and this is the day that You have made. I pray that Your will be done and may Your Kingdom come through my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.

What Bible verse can I pray early in the morning to start with a grateful heart?

A morning prayer for gratitude can be inspired and come from Bible verses that the Holy Spirit may speak to you as you wake up. There are many Bible verses that you can pray in the early morning to start the day with a grateful heart.

For instance, as you wake up and think about God’s love and salvation in your life, you can thank Him by meditating on John 3:16, which speaks about God’s great love in sending His only Begotten Son into the world. You can thank Him for Jesus Christ and for the gift of eternal life as you wake up.

You can pray in this manner:

Heavenly Father, thank You for waking me up today. My heart is swelling with gratefulness for Your great love, which has allowed me to come to know Jesus Christ and receive Him as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for sending Your only Begotten Son and for Your love that’s like no other, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

What does Jesus say about gratitude?

If we are to follow the way Jesus Christ lived His life here on earth, we can read in the Bible how He lived a life of thanksgiving unto the Father. Jesus Christ showed us how important and powerful gratitude could be.

In the Gospel, when Jesus raised Lazarus to life, He prayed to the Father in this manner: Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always… (see John 11:41-42). Afterward, Lazarus was raised from the dead. Moreover, in the story of the ten lepers that Jesus had healed, only one returned to Him to give Him thanks. Afterward, Jesus did not just heal him but made him whole (see Luke 17:11-19).

Jesus showed us that gratitude can bring life to situations and make us whole. The more thankful you live each day, the more God can breathe life into every area of your life that seems dead. When you express your gratitude to someone that you may not be aware is going through some tough times, you are bringing life upon that person.

If you feel like your dreams have died, begin to thank God for giving you His dreams. If a special someone is sick, thank God for His healing power. Wake up each day filled with gratitude to God and to all those you love. Be bold to acknowledge them and experience the wholeness Jesus has promised.

May God bless you and continue to empower you as you wake up each morning with a grateful heart.
